Was a problem before patch 5 and started a new game to check again yesterday. Still a problem. It states that the gear goes into the inventory (anyone) but it never leaves his even if you go to the beach. Therefore you never picked up 1 Blade or Mail. He just won't give it up.

I don't think OP means that he doesn't know how to get the sword, but that it is a bug and the sword doesn't appear in inventory after defeating Zhalk.

But I know I looted the commander's scale mail recently. Although, it may have been in patch 4. In my current Honour Mode playthrough, I killed the commander from a distance and ran to make the connection, so I can't comment on patch 5, other than what I mentioned above about the sword. That said, I'm *positive* the commander could be looted in patch 4. At least in regards to the scale mail.

I have no problem in killing him or the mindflayer. The mindflayer had a simple gem like Jade or something (looted without issue) but Zhalk on the other hand just won't let it go. The text in the chat box says it was looted (sword or mail) but it Never is in the person that loots inventory. Not sure where the confusion is. I mentioned that it is stated to go into the individuals inventory (Shadowheart picked up E. Blade...Shadowheart picked up Scale Mail) but when I check their inventory it is not there. I even have the screenshot of it on round 7. I do not run any mods, so that isn't a factor (I probably should have mentioned that).

The latest patch (hotfix 12 on Steam) seems to have fixed the issue. I had to start a new game but works now. Save from before the patch seems to still be bugged.
