Is this issue ever going to get resolved?

If I have Steam's or GoG Galaxy's game overlay turned on, when I first launch the game it's the initial loading screen that hangs up on me. The spinning icon reaches 100% and then it stops moving and the screen sits there for over 6 minutes (longest I've timed is 6 minutes and 48 seconds) before the icon starts spinning again and the game finally loads to the main menu.

This issue seemed to have cropped up around the third big patch of the game.

I know people will say, "Just disable the game overlay options you dolt!".
That's true, I certainly could do that and I have before. When the game overlay options are disabled for Steam (if it's running) and GoG Galaxy (if it's running) then the game load up to the main menu for me within about 20 seconds.

However, the problem is, seeing as how I have a copy from GoG, without the GoG Galaxy overlay being active I cannot invite friends to my game. There is zero response from the game menu when I try to invite players to my game. Seeing as I'm the one that started hosting the games that we play, I need to be able to invite them and I can't do that if the overlay is disabled.

So, any update on when this issue will be resolved?

Holy shit, Larian.

I haven't launched the game since my original post (see above) and since then there have been a couple of updates/patches that I installed. I launched the game today and it took 12 minutes and 35 seconds for the game to load past the initial loading screen.

What is the problem with your game?

I'm running a 5900X, 32GB RAM, Windows 10 (installed on it's own SSD), 3080Ti and BG3 is installed on a different SSD than the OS is.
OS is fully updated and I'm on GPU driver 537.42 (which was released 9/21/23. I updated to this driver when the game started having issues loading to the main menu and it didn't help so I haven't bothered to update it to any else more recent).

It should not take nearly 13 minutes for this game to load to the main menu screen just because the game overlay option is enabled on Steam and/or GoG Galaxy.

Fix this.

While you're at it, fix your forums, too. So hard to get on here to post or even read posts due to the constant 504 timeouts.

Still an on going issue, it went away for a little bit from a couple patches back, but came back after the most recent patch.

There were a couple of small patches/updates pushed out over the past week or so. Before the most recent one the game was loading up to the main menu screen in about 20-25 seconds. When the most recent patch came out the game is back to hanging at the 100% load screen when I start the game up. It should not take upwards of 12+ minutes for the game to launch just because the game overlay feature is enabled in Steam or GoG Galaxy.

I've tried numerous things on my end to see if I could get around this long ass wait time for the game to load up to the main menu after I launch it, but I haven't had any luck as long as the game overlay feature is active.

Things I've tried:
* updating GPU driver to most recent
* changing from fullscreen to windowed and borderless window
* reduce graphical requirements
* starting a new game after getting to the main menu and having that game be the current one that loads when you click "Continue" - thinking maybe there's less for the game to try and load up when you launched it
* verifying game files

Basically nothing works if the game overlay feature is enabled on Steam or GoG Galaxy. It should not take 12+ minutes for the game to get to the main menu screen after launching it just because the game overlay feature is enabled. GoG Galaxy shows I've got 100 hours into the game, but with how much time I've had to sit and wait for the damn game to load up to the main menu after launching it I can easily say I've wasted 10-12 hours waiting for the game to launch.

As soon as I disable the game overlay feature and launch BG3 it takes about 20-25 seconds for the game to get to the main menu screen.

This is frustrating because I need the game overlay feature to be active to invite players to join me.

Fix your game, Larian.

Never got anything even remotely like this (I don't think the game ever loaded more than a minute at worst at the first launch, for me), but now I'm wondering if disabling the overlay may make things even quicker.
