does this thing just turn off no matter what after you leave the creche? even if you didnt take the blood of lathander?

I don't understand the question. Does what thing turn off?

The dawnmaster crest is an item that gets inserted into a slot to get the blood of lathander. There are only three possibilities:

1. You insert the crest and get the item. Nothing activates.
2. You don't insert the crest and get the item. In this case, something activates.
3. You don't insert the crest and don't get the item. Nothing activates.

If you don't get the blood of lathander, what are thinking needs to turn off?

when you pick up the crest you get a buff called morning lords glory or something that does +1d4 radiant damage to all your attacks... that is what im referring to. does that go away after you leave the creche or is it possible to keep that buff?

It goes away at some point, though I can't tell you when. Usually the description of the buff will tell you and most likely it's a long rest thing, it usually is.

The buff goes away on long rest.

After completing the creche area, you're forced to long rest when you leave Mountain Pass.

You might be able to do the creche, leave, then come back and get the crest to obtain the buff and take it with you to somewhere else. I haven't tried personally, but theoretically should work if you for example, wanted the extra radiant damage going into the Shadow Cursed Lands where everything is weak to it.
