Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems Is the Thaniel/Oliver quest bugged?

I know this game has been out a little while, but still.

So, I've done about 5 playthroughs.

The first one, I didn't even know the Taniel/Oliver quest was a thing, so I didn't rescue Art Cullagh at the Last Light Inn.

the 2nd, 3rd and 4th, I did the exact same thing, played Hide and Seek with Oliver, he accused me of cheating and wanted a rematch, I said no, he then disappeared.

But still the quest went on and Halsin did his thing and I killed all the Shadow-Cursed people while he rescued Thaniel.

A whole bunch of dialogue later and he tells me where to progress the quest, which is where I killed Oliver's folks and played Hide and Seek.

There is a quest marker, so I can't have failed it, but no matter who leads my party or whether or not I have Halsin in the group, the quest won't activate.

Any advice? I've literally layed waste to majority of The Mason's Guild, The Tollhouse etc and rescued a few things, I honestly don't want to spend ages doing all of that again because of a bug. So advice would be great.

I haven't encountered this situation, but I would gess Oliver is hiding invisible.
Have you checked the places where he normally hides during the game, or tried the "see invisible" spell or potion at his place ?

He shouldn't be in any of the houses but on the main square by the big statue of Ketheric, if I understood your description correctly. Also there should be a portal at the abandoned house where you first meet him, which then leads you to him. I hope this helps. (Also not having bear Halsin with you is a cosmetic advice because you otherwise might end up having a cut scene full of fur.)
