Hey all,

I'm having an issue all of the sudden with BG3 crashing as soon as I hit launch from the larian launcher. I've never had an issue with the game up until now.

I'm on steam so I verified the game files multiple times, uninstalled completely and reinstalled 3 different times as well. The last reinstall I went in and deleted the entire folder on my SSD after uninstall just in case.

I don't have any mods, nor have I ever run any in the past.

Interestingly, I played for maybe 15 minutes last night before this was an issue and was in the middle of character creation when it crashed as I was making my character. After that it won't launch at all. I tried launching with Vulkan vs Direct X as well without any luck.

Anyone have any ideas on this? I'm at a loss....

If you haven't done so already, you could try to delete or move this folder: C:\Users\[your_user_name]\AppData\Local\Larian Studios
Please note that if you delete it, all locally stored savegame files will also be deleted.
In addition, verify if new GPU drivers are available for your graphic card.

I had similar problems. The workaround was that both launchers, steam and larian shouldnt openwhen the game starts.

For this you have to first put "--skip-launcher" into the startup options of baldurs gate in the steam launcher. You find them when right clicking the game and then selecting "properties". (This prevents the Larian Launcher from opening)
Then you have to properly close steam, so that its not even open in the background. Afterwards you can start the game itself by starting the .exe. You should find it under "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\bin". The exe for directx11 is called "bg3_dx11", the "bg3" one is for vulcan. (I am also starting the exe as an administrator, idk if this is needed tho)
