I'd like to take moment to celebrate some of the small details that added to the experience of Baldur's Gate 3.

-The music: I've come to really appreciate the musical scores and cues in BG3. The themes feel appropriate and unique, and I will be able to recognize them well after I am done playing.

-The environmental details: I love the attention to detail in the various environments we see through the acts. When in a laboratory, we see equipment, notes, books, various tools of trade. When in the living space of a village or encampment, we see provisions, leftover supplies, books, tools and so forth. The attention to detail helps create an immersive world.

-NPCs that have identity: I've come to be invested in the Tieflings from the Grove as much as many of the main characters. The diversity of personalities and gravity of their plights has helped to make the 'side quests' of BG3 as engaging as any of the primary plotting.

Those are just a few. What small details do you appreciate in Baldur's Gate 3?

A lot of the background comments, like in the grove when Bex is talking about maybe being a butcher and Danis is like "Really?" and she responds, "The sight of blood excites me."

There are a lot of little exchanges like those that I've found memorable. "You were only a caravan guard for three days!" "You sound just like your father." "Well, it was his caravan."

I could go on for a while typing out those bits of dialogue that I like. There's so much personality that gets revealed.

Act 3 minor spoilers

I like how, when you stand at the edge of the cliff overlooking Baldur's Gate, at the campsite that’s the transition point between acts two and three, you hear the version of the song “I want to live” with vocals. It’s a really nice moment. And a nice Easter egg.

Speak with animals. All the animals are *hilarious*, so fitting and very well done. From the Strange Ox, to the Owlbear Cub to Steelclaw and the Real Mistress of the House; just brilliant.

Raphael's Final Act. The combat, but in particular the song. So good. So fitting. So much fun.

The Iron Throne mission. Short, sweet, and something different entirely - all within the systems in play. I really love that mission. Very uniquein mechanics and atmosphere, and multiple ways to get there. Very nice.

The Sunlit Wetlands. Just, everything. The fact that the whole scenery changes and is dependant on 'if you notice'. Very nicely done and never before scene on such a scale.

That sweet, sweet, Level Up sound. Not the actual sounds, I don't care. But, it's *so* much fun to progress in this game. They really made *every* class fun to play, even classes I found 'meh' in tabletop; such as Ranger and Monk. I remember a lot of people 'complaining' prior to release that they didn't stick to 5E, but the game is better for it. [Yes, there are exceptions to this, I really want my Dwarven Ability scores]

Jaheira's interjections *everywhere*. Jaheira has SO many good lines throughout Act 3. I think they did a fair amount of disservice to many legacy characters - the Tribunal and Mother Superior, but Jaheira was done excpetionally well.

Fist Marcus. It's a really easy fight now and I can let it play out how I want nowadays. But back on my very first playthrough, I was upstairs with my Tav while everyone else was still hanging out with Dammon and I didn't stand a chance. BUt at the same time - I didn't know there were *different outcomes* to this fight, either. So imagine my surprise when I saved someone on my next playthrough.

The other Three Thorms. Just, wow. Iincredibly well done, real atmospheric, fun dialogues and ways to get past them.

Okay, so while I'm mentioning all the Act 2 moments.... 'I am resplendant'. That whole scene. Also, the version where this line is not said. That moment is great.

Boaaaaal. I don't need to say why.

Lastly. I'm very much like Shadowheart on this: Do you know who I'd never thought I'd care for? Those refugees, certainly not that bunch from the Grove. But, actively going out of your way to get to know them and saving them every chance you get is actually really rewarding and fun. Oh, Alfira, never change.

Just a tip, in Act I, stand on the rock that juts out over where Astarion's tent is.

Good tip, I’ll have to check it out! It’s kind of Astarion’s song, isn’t it? So it would make sense if it was playing somewhere near his tent, as well. Speaking of companion’s songs, I also really like the small detail that there are a bunch of music boxes scattered around all of the acts that play “Down by the River.” I read somewhere that they play “The Power,” but it sounds like “Down by the River” to me.

That your Bard will whistle, when they have no instrument equipped.

The sound Scratch's ball makes, when you move it in the inventory.

The whispering of Soul Coins.

The Bard's solution to the interrupted couple in the barn and the door at Waukeen's Rest.

Wild Magic Sorcery - especially when it turns everyone into Cats & Dogs.

The random items, which might look like grey merchant-loot on first glance, but can be combined into weapons or utility items without any associated quest telling you to do so.

That you can find out what happened at Reithwin all those years ago without any quest-prompt to puzzle the pieces together.

The dialogue encounter of Thisobald Thorm. Sends chills down my spine each time.

The Brain Jars.

Stopping the Press - such a good stealth dungeon.

"Like moons make swell and wane the nescient seas, so too the sky-strewn gods ordain the tidal fates of mortal days. And yet - a notion born in lonely hours - come ebb, come flow, come all that is beyond the breadth of our dominion: be a moon unto yourself."

Basically all of Gale and Lae'zel's writing.

A lot of Gale things:

That he has a Tressym-corner in front of his tent, should Tara drop by and that he included her pet bowls in his illusion of Waterdeep.

The "In Case of Death" quest

The whole Thrills of Battle conversation. It came so completely out of nowhere the first time and now is a moment I look forward to.

Having a self destruct cantrip I can use instead of F8 when things really haven't gone as planned.

The flirty banter in most of his romance scenes, especially the drunken conversation at the party and the Waterdeep section. The player dialogue is very nicely written in these scenes too, which gives them the flow of an actual conversation. I love the playful warmth of these interactions.

That in his Origin
you are given an awesome ring right at the start and then are low-key forced to destroy it or limp around with a penalty for a while because you rarely have any other items to snack on at this point in the game. It made his condition feel like a problem for a change.

I mean everything about Auntie Ethel and Raphael - those interactions are just so entertaining. They should be the main villains in the game

Playing instruments and gatehr crowds as a bard

Speak with Animals - 'nuff said. They are the stars of the game

The music - I cried at the Nightsong scene, that didn't ever happen to me in a video game

Arabellas interactions with Withers - just the best

Barcus and his dialogues - he truely feels like a friend made on the road

And I gagree with rodeafant: the three Thorms are jsut creepy in a very good way, really had me on edge the first playthrough.

The hommage to H.P. Lovecraft with the Necromancy aka Necronomicon

Actually the composer has stated that "I want to live" is the player's theme.

(But then, the wonderful thing about music is that the listener can interpret it in any way he wants. Which can be different from what the composer had in mind.)

The irony or sarcasm of some of the companion's comments are wonderful. Especially when they come out of the blue, unexpected. Especially the exchanges with Jaheira seem strong in this.

But not only Jaheira.

I started a Karlagh PT and the first contact with Wyll is quite hostile of course, but once that gets settled he starts his banter about "the blade" again.
Then Shadowheart comes in to say something like "All those 'blade of frontiers' tales look like a useful brag". (I don't remember the exact words. It's much more sublte but you get the picture that she thinks Wyll is just full of self-praise.
Wyll however completely misses the sarcasm and thinks it's a compliment and somewhat patronizing tells her that "the blade" is his combat names, but his friends know him as "Wyll".
Then Shadowheart's repartee just made me laugh out loud : "Good, so if we ever become friends, I'll know how to call you".

To think there are so many hidden things that I'll probably never ever discover.

I think what you describe is the normal dialogue you get, when you recruit her first and the camp scene plays out with him coming to hunt her down.

Could be. In my first PT, I cut off her head and gave it to the Palladin.
My 2nd PT was a dark urge chartacter, and I got Karlagh into camp, but I didn't see that dialogue then.
