Seriously?

And to top it all off, it's a hidden system folder by default. It's like there's some conspiracy out there by shitty devs to make their game save all player saves in AppData to ensure 99% of players end up losing all their saves on a reinstall.

Especially ridicuous is that in previous patches, old savegame scheme was far better with
C:Users\username\Documents\Larian Studios\etc
or for those of us who like to safely keep our documents folder on a separate drive altogether
D:\Documents\Larian Studios

A good maybe 80% of game devs logically save their game saves to Documents so that when a player needs to reinstall or move to a different computer, they just backup their Documents folder and be on their way. Not for shitty games though which save to AppData! And even for the 10% of those who would know how to hunt down their saves in the AppData folder, there's a good 90% chance they forget since AppData is for UNIMPORTANT TEMPORARY CACHE APP DATA, and most would never think to backup anything in there when reinstalling.

I'm at a total loss for words how idiotic this change is. Who is this change even supposed to help? The 0.000001% of the population who share their gaming PC with a sibling and play AAA titles on it but then also happen to not trust each other in the slightest and have both accounts password locked to prevent access to each other's files? You screwed literally everyone for this? The stupidity, it burns.

%UserProfile%/AppData is for cache files and ONLY cache files
%UserProfile%/Documents is for settings and important files like saves

I'm guessing you lost your data. I haven't been able to figure out how to make AppData visible on the newest windows version to this day. I'm just lucky a mod I downloaded had a direct shortcut to that place. I don't understand why hidden folders are really a thing. I suspect if it weren't for the modmanager offering that shortcut as well, many of us first time modders would be lost
