I prefer how companions are handled in PF:WotR:

Every time you leave for adventure, you get a screen where you select your current companions.

BG3 should employ this system as well, would make the game much smoother to play, especially in act 3, which can be a bit... micromanagementy.

I'd be happy if I just didn't have to run around camp and go through the same dialogue each time I want to swap companions. It might be more "realistic", but it gets tedious after a while. Sometimes you want a specific companion in your party in camp for a conversation, and it would be nice if there was a "party management" UI that players could pull up even without leaving camp.
