On the Nautiloid Commander Zhalk says "Take this ship or Zariel will have your head." or something close to that. What does Zariel have to do with the Absolute and obtaining the Astral Prism? I've gotten part way through act 3 and NO sign/word of Zariel other than comments from Karlack or Mizora that don't account to a row of beans. I'm curious what her tie-in is?

Her tie-in currently is that the Nautiloid was in Avernus and Zariel wanted it gone. Karlach escaped on it and Zariel wants her back. The start of the game kind of takes off at the same time as the end of the tabletop module Descent into Avernus.

I thought too, that it had to do with Karlachs escape mostly and because the Nautiloid intruded Avernus and Zariel wasn't ok with that.

Pretty sure she wanted to capture it also. Those ships are rare. Well every where except her…

Did Zariel have anything to do with stealing the Netherese crown controlling the Elder Brain?

Nope, the Crown's heist was carried out and planned by two certain individuals while the third accomplice merely opened a portal to the Hells. Not even Raphael was aware of what was happening at the time.

Zariel may have had something to do with the testing of Gondian tech (varient of the infernal engine), but I otherwise agree that Zariel wasn't directly involved with the Absolute.

There's an interaction between Karlach and the Steel Watch, followed by something Karlach says once you find a certain person's parents in Act III that leads me to believe that the reason a certain person 'gave' another person to Zariel, may have been to test an engine design.
