Hey there everyone, hope you're having a wonderful day. I will try to make this as concise of a message as possible. I have been really enjoying the game since release. As a physically disabled gamer with mobility and muscular issues, turn-based games like this are my bread-and-butter and I have had a blast so far. I play on a laptop typically, using the keyboard and trackpad along with a program called voiceattack that implements voice commands through my headset to register as button presses in game for keys I cannot reach.

So, while this has worked wonderfully, my girlfriend really wants to do a play through with me, as she has never played before. The way the game works currently, you are unable to have mouse and keyboard controlling one player and an Xbox controller for player two. Both have to be controllers, which I'm physically unable to use unfortunately. I downloaded some software called REWASD that is essentially meant to emulate an Xbox controller and re-maps your mouse and keyboard buttons to controller inputs for games like this. It has been very clunky, and I'm not sure how to quite make it work properly.

I am going to see my girlfriend this weekend and together we are going to see if we can troubleshoot it. In BG3 when using rewasd, for some reason, most commands spoken would not work – I mapped 'E' to A on the Xbox controller in rewasd, but when spoken, it rotated the camera, which is BG3's mouse and keyboard command for 'E' natively. This is strange. For my WASD-->left analog stick rewasd mapping, it works fine, as those are some of the buttons I can physically reach. For some reason, when voiceattack receives the command and inputs a key, rewasd or BG3 fails to see the Xbox controller command being virtually inputted. I even set up the menu to only recognize controllers, and it works for the buttons I can reach, but the voiceattack software doesn't seem to play nicely with rewasd or maybe with BG3.

Obviously the easiest solution would be for Larian to simultaneously allow mouse and keyboard for one player on split screen and a controller for the other. I know this is a long shot, but it would be wonderful if they could implement that fix. Otherwise, I'm really at a loss for how to solve this problem. I can only reach about seven keys on the keyboard and it isn't enough to properly play the game with her. I really want to share this adventure, so if anyone in the community or at Larian would be willing to offer some help or advice, that would be amazing. Thank you for any consideration.

Not sure how helpful this will be, but if you play on two different machines, you don’t have to worry about split screen. So I play on my laptop with a PS4 controller and my brother (eight hours away) plays on a steam deck. We play multiplayer together. Different controls but since we’re on two different machines, we don’t have to deal with split screen and we can just do our own thing on each screen. Not sure whether this will address your problem, but you can play multiplayer without doing split screen.

Thank you so much – I hope if they have some free time they could look into this. It would just be really nice to be able to share this wonderful game with her.

I appreciate the suggestion, if nothing ends up working out I will have to consider buying one – hopefully there is a simple solution but I sincerely appreciate the advice. Thank you.
