I got BG3 for my birthday and I have not been able to play at all. The second I open BG3, through DirectX or Vulcan, it starts lagging. The start-up is very slow and once the game starts, it looks more like a slideshow than a game. My cursor takes a few seconds to follow my movement and cutscenes just lag for a few seconds before being skipped. I've gone to character creation a few times just to get frustrated.

So far I have tried deleting the game and reinstalling it, detecting corrupted game files, skipping the launcher, deleting the cache, going to Fullscreen, playing around with the settings, and updating drivers. My friend told me they had trouble with Nvidia in the past so they helped me play around with that, getting to the point of deleting Nvidia Geforce altogether. Nothing has worked, it is still laggy. The game runs ever so slightly better through DirectX and when I run the game, task manager says it takes up no more than 32% of memory. I've never had even an inkling of a problem with any other game.

My rig:
AMD Ryzen 9 7900X 12-Core Processor
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
32 GB of RAM
game is installed to a SSD (1.5 Tb with less than half used)

Do I just not have the rig for this game? Is there some super obvious solution that I'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I just really really want to play.

So I've tried a few new things and I am still having the same issue. Completely unrelated but I did completely reset my computer, deleting all the apps and starting over with just my saved files. Once I downloaded BG3 I still was faced with the same issue. I've also tried disabling Nvidia overlay but nothing changed. I want to reiterate that I've never had this issue with any other game, granted this is the largest game I've ever played using my computer but I am still a little confused as to why BG3 is causing these issues. If you have any advice, no matter how small, it would be greatly appreciated!

Maybe far fetched, is the AMD igpu still enabled while not used and for some buggy reason, interfering? Check bios settings to disable it if so.
