A friend of mine is trying to play Bg3 during chemo, but struggling when enemies blend in with the terrain. I'm helping with that playthrough because she's not played a videogame in over 15 years nor familiar with D&D.

Gamma is pretty good to increase to overall visibility, but we discovered last time that it didn't really solve the problem. Does anyone have recommendations for a mod? Is there a setting I've overlooked that could be of help?

There is a key that you can press to highlight all characters on screen. I really dislike the effect because it is 2D and thereby ruins the 3D experience, but it does its job at knowing where everybody is at. I believe the key with the accent grave and tilde symbols is the default.

All the best to your friend! Chemo sucks, even though playing video games is a nice way to pass the time when you can't do much else.

Thank you. Unfortunately, that might not work unless it's colour coded. A major difficultly is that she can't tell allies from enemies on dark screens. This has lead to enemies being passed over in melee followed by enemy attacks of opportunity.

Colour coded they are! Tav's outline is white, companions have a blue outline, neutrals have yellow outline and, last and least, enemies are signalled by an ugly red outline.

I recall seeing a setting in the settings menu that I think turns this on permanently too. Probably easier for your friend to do that than rely on a key.

You always get the list of all active allies and opponents at the top of the screen. Using that, missing already active opponents shouldnt be a problem ?

Thanks, we'll definitely try this on the weekend.

Thanks, I'll ask her which way she prefers!

I'm not sure what you mean. The turn order on top of the screen? I don't think that can be used to highlight where each enemy stands on the map, but then I've never messed with it.

If I recall correctly, you can click on a character portrait at the top of the screen to show that character's ugly outline. It is less of an attack on esthetics than showing all character outlines. By the way, also if recalling corretly (I haven't played in a while, waiting for things to be properly fixed), the key to highlight all works as a toggle key, so there is no need to keep it pressed, or to use a menu setting.
