As the title says. I'm experimenting with wildhearts, but I don't understand the class.
Issues:
1. Sometimes can't use reckless attack.
I noticed I can't use it in the same turn as raging. Sometimes I can turn a normal attack into a reckless attack when it would otherwise miss, but almost never (happens in some battles, but not in others. I don't have competing reactions. I seem to also be able to do this when reckless attack can't be otherwise accessed in the hotbar). Sometimes I can use it twice in a row on the same turn, but only rarely.
Most perplexing: When the barb is affected by a status effect, reckless attack also can become unavailable (but not normal attack).
2. How do I get the wildheart passives to actually work? I noticed wolfheart might be completely broken and doesn't actually do anything when raging. I just don't get the automatic advantage for allies, even within the 2m range. Is there another condition that needs to be met? Do I need to toggle something on?
I've switched to bearheart for now, though it's overkill for defends atm.

- The Reckless Attack sometimes not being usable seems to be a wonky bug which can occur from time to time.
I haven't been testing this one too much, but from what I've been observing it usually happens when it's auto-applied on a missed attack. So at the start of the next turn it will say it's not usable, but then magically would become usable when I make an attack. It's like the UI doesn't update properly so it's quite wonky at times.
- As for the Wolf Aspect; basically you start raging and any enemy that is within 2m of your raging Barbarian will get the Wolf debuff. This allows all your allies to have Advantage against these enemies, but ONLY for melee attacks. Ranged attacks do not benefit from this, neither does the Barbarian themself.
If it isn't working at all then I do not know why, it works perfectly fine on my end.
Personally I use the Tiger Barbarian though, it's an insane class with a very nasty AOE and crowd-control that can entirely lock down groups of enemies all at once.

I didn't realise it's a debuff to enemies only when first activated. I was interested in wolfheart as a potential advantage distributor to melee allies who have a harder time accessing it. If I want it to apply to more enemies, I'll burn through rage charges too quickly. Larian really ought to adjust the tooltip, that description is extremely misleading. My problem with tiger is that I use stallion aspect as a source of HP. Karlach never ends up jumping. I tend to rely on other party members for AoE, especially magic users. I could do eagle heart and free up the the boots of speed, though.

Interesting, I tried Tigerheart on Karlach during Act 2, and I was very disappointed. The aoe damage is meagre and has only a very small area. Maybe I did something wrong. On many NPCs you cannot apply poison or let them bleed, so it's quite situational. If you can do it, I find the effects of the aspect of the last animal on the list (don't know the English name), maiming, much more interesting than the relatively small damage increase of the Tiger aspect.
In the end, I changed her back to Berserker (Barbarian 9/Rogue 3) with emphasis on throwing, it's a lazy approach, I know, but so nice and easy.

I think it used to be higher (normal damage applied to up to three enemies) but got nerfed alongside the cleave (AoE) option on axes (half damage applied to up to three enemies). It's essentially just what an axe can do, but as a class feature (?). Innate problem is that you need at least 3 enemies to do more damage than a normal attack. Wildheart subclass suffers from false advertising (wolfheart) and being nerfed into oblivion (tigerheart). Bearheart + stallion aspect is the only really "decent" option in that it offers defense otherwise difficult to obtain. I'm not sure why they balanced it that badly, Berserker is really the normal way to go. There's just no comparison. You can go wildheart for fun and tankiness, but it's largely a trash subclass.

I will try Wildheart/Bearheart on Minsc. I don't see him as Ranger, he even talks about himself as Barbarian. He uses "Berserker" to name himself, also a good choice, but I think because of his special relation to some animals he fits as Wildheart.
Main reason, Karlach (a thrower, 5 Barbarian-Berserker/3 Rogue-Thief/4 Fighter-Eldritch Knight) died me too fast yesterday, after a discussion with a mean mummy. One reason surely was that I (again) had forgotten to bind her weapon, but she was also too weak to non-physical damage. Going to at least 7 in Barbarian also solves another problem I have with the thrower build, little initiative, which forces me to use a + initiative armor instead of Adamant scale, as initiative is the most important stat in Honour mode in my opinion.
