Hello guys,Before I go with my feedback/suggestions,I want to say that the armor designs are amazing and it shows great love and passion from the dev team. But at the same time it makes the races feel a bit to generic and dull at the same time. What I would suggest since D&D is full of official artwork when it comes to what armor is used by all races,so I would be nice if in time you can bring back a feature from DOS2 were the same armor type looked different based on your race. That detail as small as it was made your character feel like is from a different race than human or elf or lizzard. for example a helmet used by dwarf should look different from one use by a dragonborn, human, elf, orc etc same for the rest of the armor. Yes what we have now they look amazing but you can end with the party looking a bit to generic or uniformized the only real uniformized being how you dye thearmor. And maybe more options for hair and beards(especially for dwarfs...yes yes I am a main dwarf player but my idea is good for all races)Again love you guys and love your games hope my feedback is good for you and the rest of the comunity [Linked Image from i.pinimg.com]

It's bad enough that two random humans can easily fit into the same armor, but it drives me crazy that a halfling can put on a set of armor they just took from a half-elf.

Gimblebock is a gnome. He's wearing scale mail. An orc/human/githyanki/whatever kills him and puts on his armor just fine.

It doesn't make physical sense, but from a gameplay perspective it would be brutal to have to match gender and race for armor.

So there's 2 separate lines of thought going on in this thread.

OP wants it so armour simply looks different based on your race.

Commenters are thinking about having racially (And gender) locked armour.

As far as both of these goes...

Armour having a different appearance depending on who wears it is kind of weird. Especially if it's a specific item. Like, say one of the Adamantine armours made in Grymforge with the same design as Grym. It'd make no sense for that armor to come out with elvish flare just because Astarion is wearing it instead of a Duergar PC.

Even for the mundane items you'd expect them to be stylized based how the person who made it designed it (Which does in fact open up the potential for having items with unique looks from different vendors. Such as Dammon making tiefling/infernal engine style items, while say Greymon will sell things made by Duergar with their style to it)

Of course, the issue with such things also includes the extra work it would require to make more unique appearances for things (With it being rendered moot for most mundane items anyway because of how quickly you end up clad in magical items that outperform basic stuff)

As for having racial locked items, it'd be a bit much to have all items function like that (Especially if you can just hand-wave and say it fits "Because Magic" even for mundane items). But having a few more racial specific magic items would be neat. There's already a few things that provide a benefit for certain races (Like several items that deal bonus Psychic damage for Githyanki, a rapier that deals extra poison damage for Drow, gloves that provide extra Dex for Halflings/Gnomes and a thrown hammer that deals bonus damage for Dwarves)

I don't know. It doesn't seem like it'd be so hard to have small armors and regular sized armors. Little things like that would go a long way, imo.

Oh let me make clear that the unique items and legendery can remain the same (tho I find it meh how the adamantium armors look like the others but just a diffrent colour) I think the normal armors with the + variation should look based on your race

i don't like the concept of magic armor that changes based on who wears it, so i'd prefer if instead the armor had a fixed look but restricted size requirement: small/medium/large. and can only be worn by races of that size, since we already have this exact feature but it's only used for calculating throwing/shoving etc...

edit: in a way it is already slightly magical since it changes between sexes, at least lae'zel's armor that i remember. it modifies the boobplate, doesn't it?

Maybe for some of you BG3 is the first game you played from Larian and I can understand that, still use google to see what I mean

I have no interest in armor pieces that look different based on what race is wearing it.

In fact, I hate that tieflings are allowed to wear helmets at all. It bothers me that tieflings can wear armor with their tails. I prefer reality with doses of magic. Not some dreamscape armor wonderland.

*Discussion* thread.

You: "I'd like to see this feature!"

Other People: "Me too!" -or- "Not me!" -or- "Maybe something more like...!"
