Social interaction within battles.

As of now, battles have a bunch of unique ways to 'kill' the other person.

But as soon as you are in the a fight, there is nothing to do but kill or be killed.

Why not include some chance to interact socially through fights? Like a talk option that gives you the chance to reopen dialogue. Or more complex actions like the refusal to attack - with the enemies ability to recognize it.

Or have certain enemy groups say, "Take them alive!" and if you lose - you don't reset or die, you go into a brand new story line, like waking up in a dungeon you have to escape.

I like this game a lot, but I always feel completely ripped from immersion when Im forced into a fight I don't think is necessary.

In an RPG like this, its the perfect chance to expand on branching storylines through loss. Most fights should have stakes. But in the event where the stakes are low, not every enemy should be murderous at every instant. Especially when they are dealing with the "true soul."

Losing a fight, and being forced to do additional storylines to roundabout your way back on track would be fun.
