Concerning Hope:

I was also wondering if Hope really was Korilla's ordinary sister because Hope neither acts nor is treated as a normal person who is just called "Hope". Of course she isn't in the best mental state but she mostly appears as an embodiment of the concept, down to the reflection about what hell would be without hope. In the scrolls it also sounds as if the House of Hope was really hers to begin with and Raphael just took hold of it. Which is fitting concerning what he does: Toying with the hopes of those eventually indebted to him.

Korilla and Hope also seem to reflect the companion's stories in a way, they all live in some kind of personal hell with a master they can't easily escape and the good versions rarely end in bliss but in the uncertainty and trepidation of freedom and choice - they end with the hope that things will be better, while the darker paths contain the sane certainty of power and control at the cost of freedom and the self.

The character I adore and love the most is Minthara, when you take the time to explore all the gray layers of her coupled with the tone of her voice and the way she is, its just very charming and attractive to a good extent.

I cant look at her as being evil anymore but rather a victim of calculated evil and get tagged as evil by association.

In my playthrough, I killed her to save a grove. Now I want to try the non-lethal attack option and add Minthara to the team in Moonrise. Playing as a neutral character, will you be able to reach approval points high enough to make her want to open up to Tav? Is it only bad gameplay that gives you a chance to be friends with Minthara?

As long as you prioritize her objectives and principles above your own and exhibit decisiveness in conflict resolution you should be good to go as long as you also avoid displaying cowardice and as expected indecisiveness in conflict resolutions.

Basically she likes one that displays leadership qualities.

There are plenty of moments where MInthara will disapprove even when you go all out evil without any good reason or ambition behind it, hence why I don't look at her as one and doesn't guarantee high approvals necessarily, granted there are a few evil choices she does approve of within good reasons of course.
In my first blind playthrough with MInthara as companion was shocked to see just how high of an approval rate I got with her before even leaving Act 2, mind you I did not go the non-lethal route but had plenty of mingle with her in Act 1 so that could also have had a weight to it for me.

Hope this helsp you give an idea of Minthara, would love to hear what your favorite character is.

Thank you for your reply. Basically, it resembles Lae Zel from the description. My favorite character is Tav. I love that it's written as a character who has inner power and strength. I wrote above that there hasn't been such a distinct protagonist since Shepard. She is an authority for the team, and even though they are all strong characters, it makes sense that she is the boss of the pack. Of course, I guess every origin character is like that, but I decided to go with Tav.It was a nice change for me from the protagonists, who seemed shallow to me. For example, Sara Ryder, the Inquisitor, or the protagonists from other games I've played over the years.

I like all the origin characters and a bunch of the side characters.

I identify a ton with Gale, and I think he's hilarious. I love listening to dialogue, so I'm always thrilled to hear his anecdotes, bits of world lore, or listen to him infodump about his cat.

Astarion is really entertaining and has a ton of content. I know lots of people relate to his story, and they find helping him to be healing. That's really beautiful. I guess thats true for most, if not all of the Origins. I get that a bit of that with Gale.

Karlach is adorable, and I love some of her dialogue supporting the other companions. I loved that we could give her a platonic hug. I want to hug all these characters.

I almost never even have Lae’zel in my party, but she still managed to impress and entertain me. She is so reasonable during her personal quest, especially considering how young she is. She has some beautiful, poetic dialogue too. I also loved her party banter with Gale. He would politely ask about her culture, and she was happy to talk about it. It was the most wholesome party dialogue I had at the beginning, before the companions started trusting each other.

I wish Wyll had more chats, especially about his backstory.
The poor guy was just 17 when he was thrown out of his home by his parent, and I wish we talked more about how that affected him.
He's so self sacrificing that I want to protect him and also scream at Mizora.

Shadowheart has some great interactions with other companions. If the player gets the beating from the priest of Loviatar, her conversation with Asterion is absolutely hilarious. Her banter with Lae’zel about burying the hatchet is both humorous and heartwarming.

She's not an origin character, but Jaheira literary had me at hello.

Barcus and Rolan are just side characters without much screen time, but they have arcs! Arcs I am SO invested in. Arcs that radically changed based on players' actions.

I love that the companions have such well defined personalities that Larian had to made different kiss animations to keep them in character.

The voice acting is incredible too.

I love others too, but this is getting long. Thank you for this positive thread.

Yes! Gale and Lae'zel have some of my favourite party banter. Though I just noticed, that Lae and Wyll also have some special interactions if you have them in a group together.

I probably sound like a broken record like a lot of the fanbase, especially a part that was drawn into BG3 through media marketing, but I LOVE Astarion. I relate to his story on a small level but relate nonetheless, and I just want to hug him, tell him it's alright and that he's safe. I also just love his snarky comments and his haughty laugh. He's pretty much the only character in the game I can even tolerate to romance, as the other male companions simply don't hold a candle to Astarion's story for me. I feel for Gale that I wish him to be out of Mystra's hands and empower himself, and Wyll to become the true hero he deserves to be, but that's about it. They are no "I've been under torment of my captor for 200 years and wish to be free and happy" vampire. I'm not saying I don't like Gale and Wyll, I think they're pretty alright characters and well-written. Same with Halsin. I just don't see the appeal for being romantic with them.
I also really love Bernard. I always had a taste for robotic constructs and Bernard is just the kinda guy I'd bump a fist with.

Well, that's just disgusting.
