Perhaps not all, but the vast majority of DnD players I know enjoy collecting dice to some degree IRL. BG3 obviously supports different dice skins, and we have... four(?) in total, of which half are only available to those who have bought the collectors' edition of the game. It's ofc. great that they're working on fixing bugs and more important stuff, but I couldn't imagine it would take an artist more than a few minutes to create a new solid colour die skin. By altering base and text colour they could easily have enough plain dice to give them out like candy, for example each time a boss is defeated, when a storyline is completed, or when an achievement is unlocked. Assuming they use something similar to BSFD shaders it would likely be trivial to also make metallic dice very easily. And some simple textures for 2 or 3-coloured dice would increase the number of possible combinations even further.
I assume they're going to want to sell dice as DLC, though I'm pretty sure people would pay extra for dice with special shader effects, such as transparency, lights, fire, etc. even if they give out the plain ones for "free" (I mean, we're paying customers, it's not a f2p game). I just hope they keep the prices reasonable, after all you can buy pretty nice physical dice for around €0.5 - €2 each.
