Any time I kill Quartermaster Tali (who is shadowcursed and attacking me) the game stops me from being able to move the character who's turn it is, use any of their abilities, end their turn, save the game, load the game, or even return to the main menu (If you try returning to the main menu it then just gets stuck on an infinite 0% loading screen).

This is the first time I've seen a game halting bug in BG3, but it's been 3 days since the patch came out and Larian's been radio silent and no hotfix or rollback has come, also it was the weekend so that's a bummer.
I've had to uninstall the game at this point, and just wait for news that things are fixed.

No, I was not using any mods.
Yes, this bug is repeatable.
Yes, I have seen others talk about it (they claim it happens when you kill ANY merchant, not just Tali, though on that note it didn't happen when I killed the Meregon merchant, but I have seen someone say it's happening to them whenever they kill the Bugbear in the assault on Moonrise towers).

1. The patch dropped on Friday. It's Monday. There have been 2 full days, both weekend. What exactly are you expecting? The devs are entitled to have weekends too. (Note: At least some parts of the U.S. (which I don't think is enitrely relevant to Larian) Presidents day is observed today, so at least for me it's a 3 day weekend of broken bg3)
2. Yes, dropping a patch on Friday is extremely stupid because if anything goes wrong (which you should assume it will) you either have to cancel the weekend for employees (not good) or expect players to deal with the game being broken over a weekend (and many are too entitled to take that well.).

I'm rather curious if it was supposed to release ON v-day, which would at least have only been Wednesday, but got pushed back because it was even more broken then... and they promised v-day week, so couldn't delay any more... because, again, many modern players are very entitled and there would have been a s***storm then too.

It’s like beating your head against a wall, I’m afraid, to demand that this be fixed immediately or even within a week. The track record is that game-breaking bugs will be fixed in about a month. As eager as I am to see fixes, I’m tempering my expectations based on past experience. Luckily, Larian always does seem to come through in the end.

This may not work for you but this worked for me in the goblin camp. Kill everyone else first.

When Tali goes down wait for a more than a minute. Two or three perhaps.

Fast travel to camp and/or run from battle. Repeat with each companion.

Once you have everyone there group all and fast travel to another location. Then back to the Last Light.

For anyone that this is happening to, I just played through this section at Last Light and yeah.. the game does appear to freeze or lock up when a merchant dies.

However, once it locks your movement it's not frozen, the game engine is just extremely slow to process the updated information when the merchant dies. Click end turn once or twice, take your hands off the keyboard and sit and wait for the current turn to end. The game will eventually catch up and move to the next turn and allow you to input actions again. The time it takes to resume seems to vary, when I killed Tali it took 2-3x longer for the game to resume than it did when I killed Dammon.

So yeah, depending on your PC might take longer or shorter, but it will resume eventually. Game is a hot mess either way.

I apologise if I was coming across as demanding.
I thought I'd written the post to be clear in that it was someone venting their frustration at no longer being able to play the game.

On the dev-action part of the comment, I was trying to say that it was the lack of communication combined with the lack of action that made me feel exasperated there.
That kind of combo is a psychic attack worth at least 2d6 damage and my wisdom scores are NOT very high it must be said.

Interesting points about weekend workers though, I'd read stories and quotes about how Larian studios had opened up development studios all across the world so they can work on things 24/7 and thought that applied to weekends, in today's working world the weekend is not the weekend for everyone, some peoples' weekends are Tues Wed Thurs, or Sun Mon Tues, or any 3 day combo really.
So that was an assumption I had that influenced my saving throw on the psychic combo attack I think, if it turns out there aren't any community workers on the weekend then fair enough y'know?

And thanks to those of you who offered up potential workarounds!
I'm redownloading the game now as a hotfix has been released, and if the hotfix hasn't fixed this issue then I'll try those for sure.

Hello! I completely understand the frustration with this issue. The team is aware and currently looking into this.

Could you confirm if this is still happening after installing the recent Hotfix 18 and if you are in Honour Mode or not?

Luckliy for me i was into act 3 when patch dropped ans there aren t many major bugs or game breaking stuff here.
Killed some fellow merchants as part of quests or not but no issues.

When I try to lock pick the trunk just after the ravaged beach as the dexterity check comes up the game crashes to desktop. I am on PC in Balanced Mode and got it from GOG

Patch 6 has unfortunately introduced more game breaking bugs than the worth of the, unarguably great, QoL changes.
Whilst it's fantastic to be able to manage your companions without dismissing them first, or to be able to access the inventory of all party members from the chest, it certainly isn't worth companions no longer following, umbral gems disappearing or Minthara massively spoiling the content before it happens.

Fortunately, some platforms allow playing the previous version, but for those who cannot rollback, it's certainly worth taking a break till a half a dozen hotfixes have dropped.

All good in the hood, not trying to come across like an angry past the moment person, I understand these things happen.

Can confirm on Hotfix 18 there was still a delay after merchants got axed and still some laggy trading menus with alive ones, but I left the game alone for about 3 and a half minutes after Tali died and it finally finished loading everything back to normal and let me continue, as user psychedelaholic said above.

Also yeah I'm on Honour Mode, haven't played on Hotfix 19 yet.
