So I’m in the goblin camp and for some reason my Paladin won’t fail the save for the priestess? Every other character always auto fails and you get a special scene. It’s a much more difficult encounter and I’m wondering if I can do anything to prevent this?

Is your Paladin an Elf by any chance?

Because elves do not sleep therefore by default they are immune to the potion, thus they cannot get abducted by Priestess Gut and instead she immediately attacks.

Nope a duergar dark urge oathbreaker. Every other drank the potion and went to sleep (haven’t played elves)

Duergar:

Dwarven Resilience: You have Advantage on Saving throws against Damage Types Poison, and have resistance to Poison damage.
and
Duergar Resilience: You have Advantage on Saving throws against illusions, as well as against being Charmed or Paralysed.

I guess you just have to keep on rolling smile

EDIT: maybe this also comes into play, from Haunted One:
Medicine Proficiency: Gain Proficiency with Wisdom (Medicine) Ability Checks.

Thanks. It’s funny it make it seem as though it’s tied to
Paladin. It’s 2 bad you get hostile as all others you can pass the test (we know it’s sleeping) are allowed to drink it and sleep

Oh a Duergar, wasn't aware they had advantage on saving throws.

In that case you could also eat any rotten food; it gets you poisoned by default and gives you disadvantage on all checks. Rotten food is how I intentionally fail a certain persuasion dialogue check in Grymforge, so I can legitimately provoke the Duergar slavers to attack me.

Uhhh brilliant tip. I'll try that on Nettie later. It's always hard to get three medicine check fails in a row, but if I do, I'll have the best reason for my self-defense to kill her.

Brilliant. Any other uses for rotten food?

You have heard about dung hurling monkies? Well, in BG3 you can now indulge in your dark urge to roleplay as an ape and use rotten food as projectiles.

Wouldn' drinking a bottle of wine or liquor help also ? In drunk state you have disadvantage I think. It seems a more pleasant way to cripple a roll than eating rotten food.

Wouldn't help in OP's instance because Alcohol only gives disadvantage to Dexterity and Charisma checks, whereas Poisoned gives disadvantage to absolutely everything.

In my case however, sure I suppose it would be better. But I'm a nasty food hoarder, throwing it away is a sin grin

So i tried this yesterday with a dwarf barbarian. There was no save? He auto slept.

This is a Paladin feature? Or dark urge?

So no save for Dwarf Barbarian? Odd ...
I don't think Divine Health should protect from Sleeping Potion.
Maybe indeed a Dark Urge thing ...

Nah, Dark Urge has nothing to do with not being able to sleep.

Can confirm this because my Zariel Tiefling Dark Urge always gets put to sleep.

Paladins in this scene do have an additional check to not fall asleep. Been awhile, but I specifically remember my human Oathbreaker getting a Paladin dialiog specific con roll to resist.
