With the news that post launch mod support is coming in a future update what project ideas do you guys have once it finally drops? Assuming we get access to modify the entire engine (environments, UI, classes, races etc).

I have a few right off the top of my head.
  • Remaking Ultima 7's Trinsic in BG3's engine. This is an idea I really want to do assuming we can create custom environments. When I first played BG3 and discovered you could ascend spaces by stacking objects or jumping I was immediately reminded of Ultima 7 and how they hid a secret cheating room in the first town Trinsic. And you could only get to it by stacking a lot of objects, climbing on top of a building and entering it's chimney.
  • Puzzle dungeons. BG3 has a surprising amount of mechanics that add a lot of depth to the game but are largely unnecessary outside of ridiculous challenges. A good example is how you can kill enemies by throwing them off ledges. Or how you can stack crates to ascend spaces. I could imagine creating puzzle rooms akin to the game Portal where your goal is to ascend a space or get from A-B using only the materials given to you by the map creator.

I really need a mod with which I can manipulate dice rolling results. So success or failure. So that I can, so to speak, choose the dialogues as I want, like in the predecessor games or Dragon Age. For example the Nettie encounter, where you now need three medicine check fails in a row to get this particular answer:

1 [Medicine] But I have no symptoms. I am not transforming! - Failure
1 [Medicine] At some point? Then I still have time to find a cure. - Failure
1 [Medizine] As long as there's a chance, you're not saving me, you're committing murder. - Failure

The last answer fail is the perfect reason for killing her in self-defense. In general such a mod would speed up conversations without missing to many details. There are plenty of other examples. Until yet I have wasting so much time by "save scumming" as hell to get to desired dialogues.

Oh yeah, I want to separate the city of Baldur's gate as an asset - clean out most of the quests and reconfigure it as a persistent Hub with shops and then expand it into a set of campaigns that the hub acts as a jumping off point for.

I'd probably make it so you couldn't actually kill anyone in Baldur's gate the city, only knock them out for a bit and then they respawn with full health. Or maybe just in the bars.

I'd like to have an Arena or a series of Arenas for 1 v 1 and 4 v 4 combat that you can que up for fights for and other people can bet on and watch.

I'd like to re-make The Keep on the Borderlands as an optional dungeon crawl adventure with all factions in play.

I'd also like to re-make Temple of Elemental Evil - although in Faerun instead of Greyhawke - it's another small self-contained dungeon crawl-esque adventure.

I loved U7 - Trinsic re-make sounds awesome.

Fwiw as soon as I saw BG3 had jumping I immediately also thought "oh like in Ultima 8".

So theoretically someone could recreate at least part of that game as well.
