Two-part question:
Does BD have a "hostile" function key? II.e., is there a way to go aggro on green-circled characters? I ask because I hosed the "Rat-clearing" quest given by the cook in the Citadel barracks area so I can't get access to the storeroom (I think I switched armors before I went in the barracks area so everyone attacked me on sight, thus the cook got toasted). I want to get the storeroom key from the imp room cleaner but I can't force-attack him. Is this even poss. in BD?
Also, who has the key to the bathroom in Citadel barracks (I'm not kidding -- there's a guy in the bathroom and the door is locked, but there are a couple chests of goodies in there). My lockpick skill is minimal, at best, so do I have other options? Can you smash doors or chests open? Is there an "unlock" spell I can learn? It's been a long time since I played DD so I've forgotten if these things were possible.
Thanks, CK

So far I know of no method to make a quest giving imp hostile. In very early versions you could steal a key with pickpocket, but since 1.2 (?) this is impossible.
Bathroom => is a case for lockpick - but this skill is broken, sorry. Kiya

Kiya Hmmm. Maybe I should try and pickpocket him now, before I download the patch. Then again, I have like "0" skills in PP as it is, so that may not be worth the trouble.
What do you mean, "this skill is broken"??? Is there a bug on this skill tree?

Yes, there is a bug. Lockpick does not work - or to be exact: lockpick does not work for the levels you can achieve. It was a very important skill in Div, but not so important in BD as pickpocket is now. Still, I'd like it fixed.
You can try - take only one lvl of pickpocket, take it as an active skill - then right-click on Rashax and look, if you can right-click on the key in his inventory. If the message pops up => "give to...", you can give the key to your DK and thus have it. If you can't get this message => you already have an advanced version, where this - sniff - cute, helpful, little bug <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" /> - sob - was fixed. <draining in tears>
don't shoot the messenger.... lockpick this is the only broken skill I know of.
Some are a bit "strange" => as e.g. trader skill. But only for those who played Div and are accustomed to a lower price. In BD you can haggle, this is different. Kiya
I don't know in which version the US came out as a sales version - I could steal in German version 1.0, but I don't think, you have this one. If so, you would have an invincible boss enemy and a witch who is shy and doesn't appear, thus breaking a major plot line.

So PP is the more imp. skill in BD, as opposed to LP? And as far as trading skills go, is it worthwhile to sink many points into it?

As I had PP, I didn't bother about trading - I stole <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" /> - you can steal unlimited amount of stackable items, as long as you keep one in the trader inventory - and depending on your PP lvl, you can steal 1 item per level. In every act change, you can start again (BF traders).
A gamer here found out this wonderful trick: click on a - let's say - stack of potions and hit CTRL at the same time. Pane pops up, simply enter one number lower than the max. Kiya

Do you mean "click on," as in left-click while simult. pushing the CRTL key? I'll give it a try!
I think I'm going to "unlearn" the skill points I put into PL -- seeing as how it is glitched, and I'll put those points back into PP.
Thanks, CK

Yes, left click - but PLEASE press CTRL at the same time (or even a bit before). Save and try it. Kiya Drizzt and the pickpocket trick, click hereHa, found the post at last - I'm really fond of what gamer Drizzt found out <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

I tried this before and after I installed the patch and couldn't get it to work in either case. Is there a secret to it? Do I need at least 1 lvl of Pick Pocket to make it work? Thanks, CK

Yes, you need at least lvl 1 pickpocket to make it work. Otherwise you can't access the pickpocket screen.
Assign pickpocket as secondary hand skill, right-click on trader to enter pickpocket screen, now apply trick.

i've found it best to maximize your 'take' while pickpocketing by purchasing the item(s) you want then stealing the money back. in the older patches, arrows were a gold mine, but that is no more. there are only a couple items worth more than 50,000 gold, so steal the yit (golden) charms you'll use as well as the crystals you'll use ...but don't plan on selling these (you can trade, but it's laborious), as no merchant will have 30,000 (or more) in gold. when you find things you'd like, purchase them, adding your (let's say) 20,000 gold to the merchants existing 10,000. make purchases that will give a merchant a gold total of up to 50,000 - then steal the money. i say 'up to' because gold stacks into 50,000 piles. if you were to buy 60,000 gold worth of items, you'd have to make two steals (1x50,000 and 1x10,000) to recover your cash. this way you get the items you desire and add 7,000-20,000 additional to your gold total. the arrow trick was taken from me when i had accumulated about 800,000 gold. i ended with 2,400,000 and more items than i could carry - all without collecting from act 3 onward - just using this method.
