I've complained in random comments and a rant thread came out of the last point here on reddit. So, in trying to be more constructive, I did a run and wrote down things when they were bad enough to annoy me. Some minor repeats, but this is basically my raw list.

  • the pause/auto save when about the load a next area is annoying esp. bc it cancels actions/movement
  • automatic camera movement after jumping/attacking/various actions (but only sometimes) (had dynamic cam disabled)
  • clicking during an sudden/auto camera movement causing wasted turns/actions and undesired outcomes
  • general sluggishness wrt to buttons and animations
  • - e.g. casting two spells by clicking is much slower than shortcut key on keyboard even accounting for mouse travel time
  • some ending animations are a tad too long out of combat
  • - e.g. lethargic
  • low camera ceiling & high camera pitch preventing seeing what the character's see (distance not adjacent)
  • camera mod makes a world of difference such as seeing enemies in the distance and being able to prepare better without needing to cheese stealth builds since a character in POV on vanilla camera is already in a high chance to notice the party
  • pathing issues:
  • - forgetting routes
  • - running through surfaces needlessly
  • - will veer into surfaces or drop off ledges occasionally
  • - running through discovered traps when the game should recalc routes
  • - ridiculous routes to get to chests/items that are very close
  • no wasd
  • - specifically not hearing the party chatter when I pan away to plan a route while wasd forces the camera to sync to movement and actually keeps me more engaged with my immediate surroundings
  • traveling time out of combat can be slow
  • - should at least be based on highest char speed
  • occasional several second delay between action and animations (maybe related to click vs. kb shortcut delay noticed)
  • similarly long delay where NPC AI sits and does nothing oftentimes causing skipped turns
  • switching weapons with the built in swap menu sometimes does nothing and need in unequip weapon manually first
  • sometimes party members still get stuck and won't auto jump
  • lack of configurable formations
  • bad detection of adjacency to hit often times still having a small amount of movement but the cursor says not adjacent but after I manually move that last fraction you can target them
  • bad pathing to nearest opening often times taking wide birth approaches wasting movement
  • no way of getting camera LOS on enemies at a higher elevation without camera forcing/"hacking" or moving an ally up there
  • party member pathing forgets how to route and will refuse to move and sometimes dropping down dangerous heights even though other paths available nearby
  • lack of some kind of dynamic camp placement for events and companions though they did improve Halsin+Minthara placement
  • lack of ability for party members to walk though each other at seemingly arbitrary times
  • tendency for rest of party to take wide paths kind of ranomly making movements unpredictable unless you disconnect and move all manually everytime
  • looting a rack of weapons often makes the character model run back and forth between sides of the rack making the time to collect them much much longer than should be necessary
  • doing simple/routine things like casting a spell or changing the controlled character causes the party to start running around randomly for a moment
  • automating pathing for attacks very often chooses a poor route when obviously better ones exist
  • jumping often has pathing problems where the character model gets stuck midair on assets that were invisible at the given camera angle and height. noticed never happens to enemies. tells me not enough info given to me as the player to judge if a jump is good or not.
  • the restriction on pathing through narrow paths is too aggressive. lots of easily visually navigable paths for you to get around object/creatures
  • conversely auto pathing will gladly lead through the edge of lava causing an instant KO
  • the camera can easily get stuck and shake like it's trying to continue moving but can't
  • some pages like the reactions menu closes if you have it open change to another character and click on reactions
  • action bar icons don't retain their position so swapping items around can be annoying needing to reorganize them
  • dual attack/single attack gets silently reset when switching weapons
  • tools almost entirely missing for automating/saving action bar icons (e.g. speccing back and forth for casters is a royal PITA)
  • the positions of the shortcut action bar slots changes when you expand/collapse the size (adjacent to every other spot)
  • a LOT of allied NPCs waste turns with needless movements removing their utility entirely
  • automatic pathing (like when you hover over an enemy to attack and the route that displays) often needlessly has opportunity attacks
  • moving away from an enemy isn't always obvious you're going to provoke an opportunity attack as the color can become becomes invisible to the ground/surfaces
  • the UI can take a prolonged amount of time to change between active states (such as polymorphs)
  • the indicators of movement or attack can often get turned off somehow making it look like what you want to do isn't an option requiring a sweeping cursor movement to make reappear or clicking anyway and risking a lack of visual notification that would normally exist
  • long pauses between action and animation (e.g. make an attack and nothing happens for several seconds (about 5-10))
  • throwing equipped weapons is too tedius to unequip and right click throw for each attack
  • returning weapons replace your mainhand weapon but then getting your normal weapon back takes an action
  • walls seem to not block LOS and enemies have counterspelled me without LOS or effect
  • no way to cancel an attack action once given even out of combat
  • plainly seeing a trap on the floor doesn't let you interact with it so you're forced to risk setting it off regardless
  • double clicking an item in the camp chest tries to use it instead of adding to your inventory
  • sort by type very much does not sort by type
  • basic filters for looting is completely missing
  • inability to "offhand only" a weapon which really sucks for monk as it removes the standard unarmed strike attack
  • splitting items in inventory makes the newly split stack invisible until you do something to "refresh" the view of the inventory
  • movement estimations and planning through any kind of difficult terrain are completely useless
  • switching weapons often requires hitting it several times if there's any other kind of animation going on
  • clicking on the same inventory slot across characters does not bring up the swap menu - must click on another and come back
  • possible to completely waste actions through accidental misclicks like just adjacent to an enemy - sometimes makes sense most often accidents
  • often get "can't reach object" messages even when you're physically adjacent
  • clicking on another party members portrait doesn't do anything if the one you're controlling is in an animation making you click multiple times and/or wait
  • tracking down hidden/invisible enemies is extremely frustrating when the AI gets stuck in "stay hidden" mode yet NPCs apparently get a dedicated "find hidden PC" action
  • issue where party members will go back in the opposite direction from a ladder is still there sometimes even the PC
  • can still easily get in dialogue loops (e.g. entered forbidden area/ok, I'll leave/entered forbidden area repeat infinitely)
  • companions will sometimes jump one at a time when the whole group could easily come over at the same time
  • illithid fly does not replace jump and if it does at first it quickly gets reverted
  • aoe hit indicators can and do lie
  • the cinematic camera sometimes loses track of who is talking
  • several doors (not all) completely block LOS across the threshold of the door even though it's visually open. most egregious in Act 3

Larian are so amazing at patching their game, it should all be fixed up quite soon!

Seriously though I think most of the UI team took a break a year after early access started.
Cinematic fixes and additions is the order of the day. Its bogging down the rest of the game (that needs to be fixed). As expected when you use cinematic dialogues for everything.

It just reminded me of the bowl of goat's milk that old Winthrop used to put outside his door every evening for the dust demons. He said the dust demons could never resist goat's milk, and that they would always drink themselves into a stupor and then be too tired to enter his room..

It's quite amazing the game content is so good it's still an amazing game AND experience overall even with all those little jabs breaking me out of the ability to "just flow" with it. But yes, there are many issues like that and probably many more that I don't get just because I don't play a certain way or on a given platform. I'm exclusively mouse+keyboard on PC.
