Now that all the point 'N' click games are dead, I was wondering if people would still want them. If someone released a point 'N' click game cheapish, would you buy it? Or would you only buy the new 3D stuff like Broken Sword 3?

I would like some more point 'N' clicks please

Yeah, the original Myst!

Or some other fun games.

Like the LucasArts stuff.

I still enjoy them, but I'm starting to get sick of the find-the-items style games. Riven is by far the best one I've played. I'd like to try Uru, but I don't feel like paying quite so much. The demo for that was very good.

Myst was an awsome game... still is actually.
Runaway adventure is supposed to be good as well... only played the demo so I can't vouch for it though

I recently got Myst III... I hate it Looks beautiful, but it's too much 'solve puzzles to solve puzzles' for my taste. Additionaly, I really don't like the screen-by-screen movement -- my orientation sucks already in general, so I easily got lost in that game

What I want in an adventure game are original puzzles (preferably disguised) that actually make sense within the storyline - a story which is original and interesting too - and not to forget: lots of dialogue with well worked out characters and preferably good voice acting. And good music.
Don't care if it's point and click 2D or semi 3D 'Grim Fandango' or full 3D 'Broken Sword 3' style; that's just a matter of controls. I liked how they tried to make BS3 make look more film-ish through the camera work though, it adds to the atmosphere

I'm still working on my own adventure game btw, and trying to get all the things I mentioned above in it

I also liked 'the 11th hour' a lot, altough it's not really the same as other adventure games. The first Syberia was also awesome, didn't play the sequel yet, but I think to give it a shot (but I still need to finish BD first )

the 11th houre was ok, for the puzzles that was.
(but i solved the last puzzle by accident.
i was just clicking some random windows and bamm, i finished the game (i thought é what the.. ?")

i hated all these word games that give you hints on witch items you had to find.
if you have a puzzle game. developpers has to realize that a lot of the people doesn't have english as the mother tongue.
reading and write english is one thing, but THINK in english riddles is another one.

i playes all the myst games exept that URU game.
and i'm trying to find the dvd version of Shizms (the first one)
i heard it gas the hardest puzzle in anny kind of game ever made.

The Longest Journey. 'Nuff said.

The sequel, Dreamfall, looks absolutely drool-worthy. Shame it'll have action elements, though.

True. Scizm is very difficult. Some puzzles I solved was by accident too. But it has the most astonishing graphics I have ever seen. The only problem for me is that I felt sooo lonely in that game. It left me a bad taste in my mouth. Loneliness in combination with the graphics made me drop it before I get depressed or something.

The Longest Journey is my all time favorite.
Syberia 1 + 2
Necronomicon (Great atmosphere if you like Lovecraft).
Broken Sword series.
Monkey Island series (major laughs)
Cameron Files - Loch Ness
Post Mortem (just loved the atmosphere in there)
Curse of Isis (Have not finished it yet)
Black Mirror

Both Alex and I have tried playing The Omega Stone, Riddle of the Sphinx 2. Personally, I think it's crap. It has a similar interface to Myst 3: Exile (which is a good thing). It boasts this great linkage between various wonders of the world, but ends up being a blind stumble through indistinguishable darkened tunnels. There's a lot of historical information and pretty graphics, but not much in the way of clues, puzzles (aside from mazes), or interest. Perhaps I just haven't given it enough time, but after two sessions I'm bored silly with it. Shame...

Gabriel Knight.
For me, it wasn't an adventure game but the adventure game.
I played quite a few: I like Monkey Island 1-3 (a tiny bit of MI 4), for example, but I will never forget Gabriel Knight 1.
A trully mesmerizing game which also had top-notch graphics at that time.

I just played the demo for Sherlock Holmes and the case of the Silver Earring. A pretty good adventure. Different to others in that you spend one part of the game collecting everything – items, clues and testemonies – then you examine them all back at Baker Street. The controls were a bit stuffy, and there's a bit of pixel hunting, but it's very well done story-wise.

On the official site of Al Lowe (Inventor of the (in)famous Leisure Suit Larry) there are some goodies to find, even a few older games.

Although I rarely visit it, it's one of my favourite sites.
