For those who have had some experience playing a survivor, what are your sentiments? Relative to the mage and the warrior, what's the difficulty level/fun factor?

Well, I decided to play a survivor with a bow and spear. Needless to say, these are not only the two crappiest weapons in the game, but both their respective skills are currently bugged (True Shot and Spear Expertise)

I did enjoy it though, and not just because of the cute survivor avatar I did manage to find a decent bow, and a Partisan that's not too bad. I ended up using a ton of spells with her since she is kinda weak on the fighting side...no surprise there. I pumped AGI a bit, which is good for being able to hit stuff as well as not getting hit.

Overall I enjoyed playing her better than the warrior I played with the first time around. I also avoided Frost on purpose, and only used the death scorpions once (on Josephine). I would definitely recommend playing survivor, since there are so many ways to approach it...stealth, power, or 75% mage

If you will enjoy playing a slower-pace combat game: scouting ahead for enemies while hidden, hit-n-run type of character, then survivor will suit you well. You will probably use a bow until later in the game when skills and new items give you more choices. You can cast wizard spells at range and opponents wont see you while using the hide skill, which is kinda too easy but the only real power the survivor has.

Otherwise warriors and wizards can do everything a survivor can, and do many things better. Its not a fault of the survivor class, per se, but the open-ended nature of the skill-system. There is little distinction except warriors get the most useful special ability for combat -- which is the focus of the game. Wizards get 20% or more more Mana for spells compared to the other classes.

You can do well with any class in the game, as none are too weak. It's just that none are too different from the others. If you dont like to pause the game much, I suggest warrior for the extra survivability.

Female survivor starts the game with more useful skills than the male survivor.
I chose the male, assuming there would be more interesting roleplaying when the female characters in the game try to appeal to me. Hehe. In the first town, if not the first map, most everyone is male, except for farm girls, so maybe a female would have more fun in this world :>

I played and finished the game as the female survivor. My primary weapon was the sword. Having nothing to compare to, I enjoyed it a lot. She seemed "balanced" in the debate between weapons and magic. Because of this balance, I found myself thinking harder about strategy than I normally have in RPG games. I finished the game at level 50 and blew a few quests (due to my ignorance). I am now playing as the female warrior. I have to admit, it's fun being stronger in the beginning. As with the survivor, I am trying to balance my attributes as I level up. Some baddies you can kill with a sword, some are easier to kill with magic. With all the choices this game has, replaying it has been a new experience.

Okay, done now.
