To celebrate Dragon’s Dogma2 release, I finally decided to give original Dragon’s Dogma a go, while the sequel gets patched up.
Couple hours in I climb down from a high wall, and just too witness all three of my pawns jumping down like idiots hurting themselves in the process. That made me thing: Aren’t I playing an action-rpg version of BG3 right now?
It kinda checks out: party of 4, grabbing and throwing enemies, getting thrown off a cliff a bigger threat than the actual fight, fairly shallow combat focused of gimmicks, limited inventory with easy access to infinite stash turning the system mostly irrelevant…. BG3 would make a basis for a solid Dragon’s Dogma turned based game…. Or vice versa.
I wonder if there is a direct inspiration, or if it is a result of both games trying to do something somewhat similar - a systemic, approachable D&D-like fantasy adventuring.
