noticed a total lack thereof in these areas, no real mohawk as per my avatar, so can not make a true look for my dwarven battle-guard fighter. Some chains hooking to nose ring to ear, and other crazy things would be welcome as well.

I was pretty disappointed in the dwarven NPCs. Dwarves are so distinctive in their hair styling (including facial hair) in most fantasy works, but in BG3 they just look like fat humans. Admittedly D&D dwarves are a lot taller than the image I had in my head, so it's not entirely Larian's fault for sticking with the source material. But I do wish they were more distinctive.

More love for the Dwarves and our other shorter races would be appreciated. I've just about given up waiting on modders.

Another fan of the small races here. I wish, at least one companion could have been from a small race. Tbh apart from Karlach and Lae'zel non of the companions are tied to a race. So gnome Astarion, dwarf Wyll or halfling Shadowheart could totally work ( to give random examples).
Still sad, Helia didn't make it into the finished game

The more-or-less accepted theory is that, due to the over-reliance on romance and sex, they didn't want to deal with having a dateable short-race character, so Helia got benched in favour of Halsin.

Bears are fine, though, is what one's getting from this.

Regardless, having a, say, Korgan- or Khelgar-like dwarven fighter would make them stick out like a sore thumb with all the oh-so-special companions that is everyone else on the crew. Too "generic", too "dull". Not layable enough or something.

I heard that, but it is a stupid theory quite frankly. For once, my shorties romance just fine and none of them look like children. And halflings, gnomes and dwarves are among the most iconic races in fantasy.

And Helia got benched long before Halsin was a thing as companion. Though his boring character is of course no substitute for a halfling werewolf bard.
