This may be a dumb question, but do I need to accept the quest to steal it from Lady Esther, (no spoilers, I have just heard there is an ending for lae'zel relating to it) to trigger that ending for Lae'zel?

Or does obtaining it after refusing to get involved work too?

You don't have to accept Lady Ester's quest. You can beat her up to your heart's content, get the egg and it should be fine.

Ah ok, for some reason I was thinking I messed up when I told her I wouldn't get involved with it!
