Why is there no option for a Tav, especially a wizard or sorcerer Tav, to take the crown and ascend like Gale can? It’s the most obvious missing ending choice and it’s a shocking lack of player agency through the whole thing. There’s no reason whatsoever you shouldn’t be able to.

I guess you could RP your background as anything but I’d think Gale as a Chosen has special affinities the player does not.

Because you are simply not capable of it! Gale possesses the orb made of pure magic fabric, and the crown only ensures that he can now use it without tearing a hole in the world. You, as Tav, do not have this and therefore cannot become a god.

His whole story is about how that orb was the dumbest thing he ever did and proof his wisdom is low, it’s ridiculous to be rewarded for such a failure. Other npcs want the crown for their grand ambitions there’s other ways to use it, if a mortal can only ascend with Gale’s orb then just add an option to rip it from him for an evil ending, give Durge characters a reason not to rip his hand off at first meeting for the chance to eviscerate further.

A more prosaic explanation is that the non-Dark Urge custom characters were simply overlooked as far as meaningful narrative involvement goes.
