Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - General how's the game now compared to when it was released?

Hello fellow BG3 players,

I played the game when it came out last year and I really loved it and would like to do another playthrough. Last year the game didn't seem to be completely finished though. Act 1 was so amazing, the best part of the game imo, act 2 was also really good. But act 3 was a disappointment in my opinion.

So with all the patches and everything, have there been changes made, especially to act 3 and the ending? Like do the companions talk again etc.? They didn't talk much anymore sadly...

I would also really like to do an evil run next and I'd like to recruit Minthara, but on what I've read on the forums last year she wasn't really deeply developed, like she wouldn't interact much when something happend. Have there been some changes made for her?

• ACT III has gotten optimizations and more safeguards to reduce the chances of quests breaking for not following their exact intended sequences, along with some minor additions, but it's still the same old ACT III as it always was.
• Numerous companions (primarily Origin) have also received new reactions and scenes to cover up some inconsistencies and overall make them feel more alive.
• The good playthrough received an actual epilogue in the meantime, while the evil playthrough a month from now is receiving slightly extended ending cutscenes with a choice on how you wish to ruin the world before it fades to black.
• Minthara is unfortunately still in her Early Access state with a lot of content missing and not working as it should. The upcoming Update #7 made some very minor improvements (not mentioned in the patch notes) and fixed a few of her minor bugs, but the essential issues and lack of content still remain.
  
  She's exceptionally well written though so she's still very much worth experiencing as a companion despite her poor state.

If you're wanting to do another playthrough I recommend waiting until Update #7 arrives, there are some very nice additions to it that will make the overall experience better.

Maybe I'll still wait then until I start my next playthrough in the hope that there might be some changes done.

Patch 7 is around the corner and it will fix a lot of stuff and give some companions some more to do (poor Wyll hopefully will be allowed to make his own decisions). If you contemplating doing a plythrough, I would wait the few weeks and start with that patch-
As Crimsonrider said, Minthara is pretty bugged and I had her bugging out so heavily last time in act 3, that I just left her in camp after a while. It seems to be better this time though (I play good and recruited her by knocking her out, which is a thing now)

About the changes, well, I'm still surprised how many bugs are remaining in the game, even in 6.9.

A change I've just noticed - when Halsin is invited to take part in the killing of Abslute leaders at Goblin Camp, he used to be IA controlled, like e.g. Jaheira when storming Moonrise Towers. He now is fully player controlled.
No idea when this was changed - from EA to Release, or by some patch or other.

its still nothing near finished but i don't think much else [at least nothing worthwhle] wil be added now

Minthara isn't fixed and i don't expect patch 7 to change that

Still very buggy. But stuff overall works better and theres more content.
