As this discussion came up again on the Steam forum but discussing anything on Steam is a gamble...

Why do you think Larian has not implemented the revised dragonborn from Fizbans and instead used the underpowered base dragonborn?

Not necessarily the gem dragonborn (why they haven't added psionic in a game about mind flayer is a separate issue), but the buffs to metallic and chromatic dragonborn like secondary breath weapons, more breath attacks or temporary elemental immunity.

Because they were mostly sticking to just PHB.

Not really, for example they used Tashas floating attributes.

Yes really.

"Mostly" isn't "Entirely"

They "Mostly" were sticking to just PHB. Ergo, PHB version of Dragonborn.

So we are back at my original question why Larian used the basic Dragonborn instead of the updated ones.
Especially as the Tasha rules they did use are one of the reasons why dragonborn are underpowered, as previously they at least had a quite good ability score adjustment.

And we're back at my original answer. They were mostly sticking to PHB, hence base Dragonborn.

Yes, they have used some other modules and they could have done so with Dragonborn. But the fact is, they were MOSTLY trying to stick to PHB,
