Which disk have you tried placing in the drive when you start the game?

The second disk is the play disk, the one the copy protection is checking for.
If that is the disk you are using, do you have a different optical drive you can try?

Try deleting the files config.div, slashed.cfg and slashed-d3d6.cfg in the Beyond Divinity folder (if they exist), to force the configuration program to recreate them.

Do you have any video filters installed? At least the ReClock DirectShow Filter needs to be disabled to play the game videos.

You could try doing a clean install of the game. Uninstall, reboot, make sure there is nothing in the Beyond Divinity folder (if you had been able to start a game, you would want to keep the savegames folder), then shut down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus), re-install the game, reboot, shut down all non-essential programs, install the patch and try starting the game.

"Configtool has caused an error in SLASH1.DLL Configtool will now close"....then a thing pops up saying...... "Unable to read Config file-exiting WTF

Have you tried updating your video drivers? Several people have had slash1.dll errors without the latest drivers.

Some people have gotten an 'unable to read configuration file' error due to having .div files associated with a divx video player.

Try deleting the files config.div, slashed.cfg and slashed-d3d6.cfg in the Beyond Divinity folder (if they exist), to force the configuration program to recreate them.

If you run dxdiag (click Start | Run, type in dxdiag and hit Enter), does it report any problems?

FSAA = Full Screen AntiAliasing
Mode 0 is disabled, higher modes are different ways to smooth out jagged edges in 3D models, to try to improve visual quality. It is more useful in full 3D games, such as first person shooters with a lot of straight lines along corridors, etc.

Was that the only suggestion you noticed? Did the description of the situation up until that suggestion imply to you that the game installed perfectly and there could not possibly have been a problem during the install?
I take it you have never had a corrupt file, error or conflict with a background program during install, which doing a clean install resolved?

No it wasn't, for that i'm sorry, u obviously do a good job here. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

but after a few days of trouble i get a little

angry, pretty normal i'd say.

Check my other post, i had to solve my own problem the drastic way. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

It's not like i would format my pc to play your game, without first trying

all the other options. But none of them seemed to help anything in my case.

If i would have discouraged anyone to buy this game i'd like to state the

following :

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beyond.gif" alt="" />

It's a lot of fun and a good story, kinda like a brand new baldur's gate.

it even beats divine divinity. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/alien.gif" alt="" />

But i think the protection thing can be a pain in the [nocando], even for honest buyers <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />

That's ok, I figured you were just frustrated.

Actually, I don't work for Larian, I just spend too much time here.
