For the record, I have never used or even installed mods. I was playing two days ago just fine. I barely used the computer between then and yesterday, except that I downloaded the new Toolkit from Steam. Now when I launch, I get data mismatch warning.

I'd rather not "don't show this message" but is it unavoidable? I haven't even launched the Toolkit, so the only files present are what's downloaded. I find it weird that the launcher isn't okay with them. The game runs fine, but I might just uninstall it until I want to use it if it's going to be a nuisance.

I had the EXACT same problem, but on GOG. I looked up all the possible workarounds provided on the Larian website, but.... I'm not savvy enough to actually KNOW what's wrong and which of the solutions to use, and I am worried I'll cause more damage.

I had never even touched mods before. I do not know what did it: downloading patch 7 or downloading the toolkit (or both). I'm on a laptop with an RTX3080ti

Can anyone shed some light on this? The game boots up fine (it's just the message that pops up, during the Larian client). Is the game fine, or will I run into trouble later? Thank you in advance!

I have the same situation on my desktop and Lenovo Legion Go. I've been playing fine on both and have NEVER installed any mods. I've done the file integrity verify and it found no errors. However, the game and the Mod Manager both seem to run fine, but I get that error message every time on startup. I close it and start the game. Is it a bug where the system believes the new mod manager is an unsupported file or something? I has to be a glitch with Patch 7, but so far seems benign to me. @Larian

Same here, happened for me after I installed the toolkit. No mods.

I'm bumping this. Hopefully we can understand why this is happening. And yes, I have verified the file integrity as well. But the message keeps popping up during the @Larian client startup.

I've had the same problem. My SSD is pretty full, so I deleted the game (backed up local save files, not cloud saves), and reinstalled from scratch to get the patch. Then I saw that the Editor and Data files were free on Steam, and that the Editor was "free to play" and in my library, but that there was still a download button to get the data files. I downloaded the Editor Data files, made the editor visible in my library per Larian's instructions, then booted the editor up to see what it was like. In order to use the editor, you have to start a project. I had to choose an existing level in the game to edit, presumably from the 10+ GB data files. I just peeked at what I loaded up in the editor, but didn't really mess with anything (it's beyond my technical skill). I think it saved a "project file".

Then I loaded up BG3 and got the "Data Mismatch" message, but have had no problems running the game, or using my preexisting local save games. Verified the files and they are all good. Loaded a few new mods (bangsx3 and some dice)...no problems. It's just that the damn mismatch message won't go away.

I think because the editor created a project, the game notices it, even though it's doing nothing, and flags it as a data mismatch. Of course, I'm just guessing here...

I didn't do any of that. Just installed the latest patch and the toolkit. Nothing else. The message popped up. Deleted the game through steam and reinstalled, still got the message. I followed the instructions in the More Information box, deleting folders and such, and i still get the message. Tried rolling some dice and i still got the message! Can't seem to get rid of it.

PS - game is fine. Not a huge complaint but would like it gone.

Well well well, that is interesting. I have a laptop, I installed it on there, no message. Not sure why yet, my investigations continue!

Thanks to all the other replies, I'm pretty sure it's the toolkit now. Patch 7 was already applied. I was playing the day before without the warning. Downloaded the toolkit. Have gotten the warning ever since.

I have not so much as opened the toolkit, so it's completely in its default state. This is the surprising part, that maybe they didn't add logic to account for that.

However, I've also been playing multiple days, with saves in different progression states, and have no problem. Which also makes sense if its a warning that is related to the existence of the toolkit. The game shouldn't be effected.

I'm just not sure if I should click it to never show. It's not clear if, say there's some new difference later, will that trigger the warning or will it just start ignoring real potential problems?

That's my concern too, but it does say on the More Information button

It is also important to note that if you have the Toolkit installed, this will cause a data mismatch warning that you can essentially disregard.

Ok, so we can totally ignore this?

Have we reached a consensus regarding this thing?

both... the Gog install includes the mod tool i.e, its part of the 120g 'patch' and should not also be installed as a mod tool

while it is nice of Gog to allow people to grab it as its own download they really should have included better notes

i would ignore it for now because uninstalling one of of them could upset your system however if it starts to actually block your game then
step 1 - uninstall the stand alone copy of mod manager i.e, the one that was not included in the patch 7
step 2 - restart windows
step 3 open Gog Galaxy select bg3 and verify/ repair
step 4 restart windows and test if the mismatch is now sorted
