I have been playing for years now, and have encountered this for the first time. I recently got the new patch, then went back to the old (using Steam).
Have fiddled with some problems using Vortex, and did several starting new games, mostly messing with mods and them not working right.
Started a new game and hit the pick your difficulty level and start, then your scene about the worm starts, I hit Esc to go to character creation

I get this scene where 8 naked men are standing around, four pale skinned and bald, four dark men with hair and a dark urge character.
This scene is obviously a part of something, but you can't do anything.

Obviously the creators made this scene, but I don't know what it is.
Any ideas anyone?

It means a mod wasn't properly installed or isn't compatible with that version.

The location with the naked men is used for the character menu screen, which is unable to load properly due to the invalid mod. Might want to clear out all mods and verify the game to ensure all files are restored properly.

I uninstalled both game and vortex, then reinstalled both- same result.

Then I uninstalled both and reinstalled the game only. No Vortex- same result.
I still wind up with that crazy screen.
I don't know what to do from here.

It's worth a try to go into C:\Users\-Your Windows Username-\AppData\Local\Larian Studios and deleting the modsettings.lsx inside the playerprofiles folder. Could be messing with the game, otherwise delete the entire BG3 folder if it still doesn't work.

You can get there by clicking on the Windows icon and typing %localappdata%. Be sure to take out any savefiles worth preserving before deleting the folder though.

I had this a after reinstalling mods, when the modfixer was missing.
On patch 7 modfixer is no longer needed, but if you went back to patch 6 mabye you forgot to reinstall it ?

Went into my files, deleted the whole folder, rebooted and reinstalled.
No good. Am still getting that cut scene.
I'm wondering if it has to do with Steam or the Cloud.

It is worth a try to purge your Steam Cloud, since all those files are backed up by it. So if you're just deleting the files before starting the game, then it's just restoring them through cloud.

• You can disable the Steam Cloud, delete the files and launch the game to see if it works.
• Or if you wish to purge the Steam Cloud then simply launch the game and then delete everything while it's running. When you quit the game your Steam Cloud will be purged.

My question is, how do you delete everything while the game is running?

Obviously, I'm not a naturally talented computer guy, just one who has to use them at work.
My ongoing hatred/frustration with Windows is eternal, and lately I have lamented that Windows 10 doesn't work like Windows 7. I ramble around the Control Panel, griping that I can't find anything.
Now I know where they went.

He fixed everything in five minutes!!!!
What can I say.....

A couple of days has gone by, loaded a new game, am using Vortex (very carefully) and everything seems fine.
