I'm looking for a very specific mod to get rid of some spellcasting vfx (just the vfx, not the animations). The vfx that I want gone are the ones for bards, with their bright blue and pink and the glowing hands as well as the vfx for the barbarian's rage.

Can anyone with better understanding of the toolset than me create a mod like that? And/or maybe explain to me the steps needed for that so I could do it myself in the future if I find more vfx I want to remove?

Thanks in advance smile

If you are on PC you can use this one from Zurath:

https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/7248

It is modular ( the files for aktive and passive spell vfx usually is enough ) and it works with Patch 7 ( for me, at last ).

I hope that I was able to help you! Happy gaming!

Unfortunately it doesn't remove the casting vfx for me or I have the wrong module installed, which is of course a possibility (I installed the "active" one). I'll try the passive one as well and see if that helps.

I would like to see something like this for the in-game mod manager.

I don't mind casting VFX or casting animations, but anything that is daily or perma visual, especially spells that have a halo or a spinning geometric circle/square whatever or anything that reskins the character. Examples would be spells like longstrider or barkskin, armor of agathys, sunlight, warding bond, death ward, hex etc. All that stuff that is always on.

In an ideal world there would be a hotkey similar to way the tilda ~ key works for highlighting everything currently, but to disable spell vfx or sfx by duration. E.g a toggle to hide that stuff similar to how one might want to hide the UI.

I think it also makes sense to retain such animations for the enemy, so not like a global on/off switch, but something that only effects the active party. That way we can still see which random goblin has caste armor on themselves.

To complement maybe a more a visually compact display for the party's status icons

What's old is new again. I remember all the VFX and SFX that were toggled or modifed in the BG2's mod packs. I hope the BG3 mod community will have as much legs as BG2 does.
