Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems Game won't start

Hello,

I recently bought a new Laptop and BG3 will not start on it. No matter if I start the game through the launcher, the .exe, with DirectX or Vulcan, I only get a white screen leading to the standard windows error "BG3.exe is not responding".
I searched the forum and googled a lot, tried most of the possible solutions but nothing seems to work. I tried starting the game without launcher, as administrator and with compatibility mode (Windows7 and 8). I tried geleting the Baldurs Gate folder in AppData, I tried reseting the launcher, repairing the game in Steam and disabling the Steam overlay. I also tried launching the game with a settings file from the official larian website so that it starts in windowed mode with low resolution, but nothing seems to work. The only option that I haven't tried, is re-installing the game. But before I do that, I wanna see if there might be any other solution, as downloading the game takes ages.

I do have the latest (graphics) drivers, my graphics card is activated and everything is in gaming mode.

Make sure that you are using "balanced" or higher in your power settings (if you are on balanced already, try one of the higher settings), and make sure you are plugged in (many laptops switch to power saver when you unplug them). Check to see if there are any other settings you should enable when laptop gaming (I don't game on a laptop so I can't help you there).

Also, BG3 can hang for a bit on a white screen when you launch it for the first time. Maybe give it a little longer (even after you get the not responding message) to see if it ends up loading.

Yep, I'm plugged in and all the settings are on gaming and best performance, other games are working just fine. I also gave it 5min the other day, it just stays in the white screen for as long as I start clicking into it, then it goes straight to "BG3.exe is not responding".
