Hey, for the reason that this is the first time I show up in an english part of the forum, I hope my English isn`t too bad.
Actually wich songs I like changes a lot every week, but it`s mostly Rock and HipHop. I`m afraid I don`t know any of the music RazorUED said he/she likes, so maybe you should just say something general about it, so the others know what kind of music it is.
So my current favourites are:
1)Burn (Usher) 2)I guess you know (Exilia feat. Micha/In Extremo) 3)Off da endz (Jamelia feat. Asher D) 4) My December (Linkin Park) 5)Still standing (The Rasmus)
So, that`s all from me for the moment, cya! Bye, Hap

No problem! As for 2 first, they are.. well, perfomed by a symphony orchestra. You can hear them in Star Wars movies.
Blind Guardian is a power-metal group, but they have several half-gothic and folk albums
Opeth is an 'intellectual death metal group', at least so the say
Pink Floyd is.. I don't know, some call it 'psychodelic rock'
As for music in general general, I love classical (Wagner most), metal, rock (Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin etc.) and different soundtracks (The Matrix is my favorite). But if I hear something I like I don't pay attention to its genre.

Hey, can`t believe you like the Matrix Soundtrack! It`s really great, I love it. I also bought the Soundtrack of Harry Potter and the philosophers stone(got it very cheap somewhere), but it isn`t that good at all. Usually I don`t listen to Soundtracks, I prefer albums or radio. I never buy these Maxi-CD`s with only one or two tracks on it because they`re just too expensive in Germany(6€ at least I reckon).

current favourite songs are;
Coffee Black (Yoko Kanno & the Seatbelts; from Cowboy Bebop Soundtrack) Knowing Me Knowing You (Evan Dando/Lemonheads, cover of Abba's original) Born Slippy (Underworld, every time somebody mentioned Trainspotting, that song will play in my head)
there's more but i don't want to carry this too far. first is jazz, second is acoustic folkish take on Abba's song, & third is techno.
personally i don't really like matrix soundtracks. too generic. used to adore john williams & howard shore until my ears feasted upon joe hisaishi & yoko kanno.

lately I have enjoyed verry cheap and unoriginal heavy metal called "Dream Evil" nothing special only 5 star performance of every member of the band, songs like "Made of metal" "the book of heavy metal" get played more than once a day these past weeks.
Soundtracks, don't really recall much I know I loved the emo-sounds in several anime's. if anyone can give me some names, please do so.
It's one of these days...

Hi Draghermosran, I could tell you after the summer holidays in Germany, which would be in something about four weeks. I know one of my classmates is really into this anime-stuff, but I actually don`t like it. So, I think maybe someone else knows it and can tell you, or you just ask in a music store, they schould be able to tell you if there are any anime-CD`s. Hope I could help!
Oh, one last thing, I have a new favourite song, kind of HipHop-Style, but very good: Move your body (Nina Sky)

Manga is the Japanese word for comic books. Anime refers to what you see on screen -- TV or in theaters. I haven't heard of Ninja Scroll, but I know that Evangelion and Ghost in the Shell have both anime and manga incarnations, which usually applies to just about any anime.

hello razorUED, joe hisaishi is a composer who's works made quite an impact in japanese anime films; Spirited Away, Castle In The Sky (my fav opening track), Princess Mononoke, Parasite EVE, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, etc... . u should check out his official website & sample some of his works. this guy's music is symphonic. as for yoko kanno, she composed music for Cowboy Bebop series & movie soundtracks, Ghost In The Shell: Standalone Complex, Macross Plus, Texhnolyze, Wolf's Rain, Gungrave, etc... . her style's jazz. honestly, it took me a while to appreciate her music & once i do, it's very hard not to listen to at least one of her songs before going to bed. every day. the only jazz musician that i really listen to. & i'm no jazz lover. u can check out Yoko Kanno Database website for more info of her works. alternatively u can check out a fansite featuring samples of her works. both in mp3 & real. hope u enjoy the wonbderful music. @ winterfox -> what other yoko kanno albums have u listened to & liked?

All my searches for both joe hisashi and yoko kanno in Moscow led to nothing... but nethertheless I encountered Hellsing OST, which is.. outstandig (I can only hope..)
I also got acquanted with 4 anime fans who have more than 900gb of anime in total.. That's completely like drugs to me, for I can't stand it. Looks like I have much to see.
Every time I watch an anime I seem to be in another dimension.. It doesn't let go for about a day or even longer..

Since it seem to be songs you're supposed to mention:
Just like Heaven- The Cure Pictures of You- The Cure (allso...) One- Metallica Tonight- Smashing Pumpkins Telegraph Road- Dire Straits
Explain on what kind of music it is? Oh, well:
The Cure is.. well, their style is so varied, let's just say that they play alternative pop. It doesn't say very much about them, but saying it all would take a while. Just like Heaven it quite pop (not braindead pop, just pop. Don't dare to say it's braindead.). I heard it for the first time when I was 10 (or around 10) and 6 years later I still knew that guitarrsling. It's great (both the song and the guitarrsling). The second song, Pictures of You is kind of slow, and it's basicly only two cords (A and D). This song is extremely beutifull (espesially the lyrics). One is another matter, since it's Metallica, and not Cure, who plays it. It starts out very calm and the speed builds on right 'til the explosive end. This song's got it all: Great lyrics, great solos, all you whant from a Metallica song (to keep it simple). Tonight is a song who doesn't sound like classic Smashing Pumpkins (with heavy guitarrs, heavy base and heavy drums), mostly thanks to the strings. That, and the song structure (it's quite grand) makes it sound more like a piece from a symphony than a rocksong. Once again, brilliant lyrics. Telegraph Road is (yet) a different matter. It is Dire Straits at their peak. For those who don't know what Dire Straits sound like I will describe their sound by describeing what Telegraph Road sounds like. For the first It's slow started (takes about 2 and a half minute untill the lyrics start). Second, it's long (15 minutes). Third, it's qite good lyrics (wouldn't say brilliant though. But still, quite good). Forth, it is an orge of smoth Mark Knopfler guitarrfills and Allan Clark pianofills. There is like two pianosolos followed by guitarsolos, and it's finnished by a 7 minute long Mark Knopfler (at his peak, too) guitarrsolo. In this song they do everything they're goo at, AND a little more.

Currently I'm enjoying very much the music of Yes, which is rather ... emotional yet complex. Unlike Genesis, which produced rather complex songs from an artistic point of view, Yes produced songs which "feel" rather emotional, but still are quite complex sometimes, like "Close to the Edge".
Unique is imho their style ... the Lyrics are almost only (as far as I know) written by Jon Anderson - and they are quite ... spiritual in some sense. I don't know any band which does something like this.

Ubereil, if you like One then what do you think about Fade to black (Ride the lighting)? And have you ever heard about Apocalytica?

I think Fade to Black is a good song, but not better than One. One is more complex than Fade to Black, and (I think) the music (in One) perfectlly reflects the lyrics. Fade to Black is nice, but not as complex and interligent as One. And no, I haven't heard of Apocalytica. Never. What's they like?

Apocalyptica is a string quarted who have played many Metallica songs (of course they have their own). They also have a guitar.. The genre can be characterized as alternative.
