I think that was introduced by Patch 7.
If, during the fight at the gate of the Grove in Act I, one of Aradin's goons dies and you loot the corpse, this leads to one of the Tieflings coming out and questioning you about this. The usual "The Big Boy Did It and Ran Away!", return the goods, bribe, "Bugger off or else" replies. I Intimidated (or Deceived/Persuaded) her to go away.
Another time Wyll took an interest - I failed my Intimidation test and had to kill the pest.
In all three instances the result was the gate remaining in the UP position.

I'm fairly sure I never had this before.
