Hello,

I am wanting to create a custom party to solo roleplay on Balanced Mode. Is a Druid suitable to be the primary healer?
I want to run a Human Ranger - DPS (also my lock picker), Elven or Human Wizard - DPS, Dwarf Fighter - Tank, and a Half-Elven Druid - Primary healer. Is this viable?

Sure.

Druids get access to a number of healing spells including Healing Word which is one of the best ones (Mostly because it only requires a bonus action).

However, it's worth noting that Healing is much less effective than damage prevention at keeping your party alive. Whereby having a dedicated healer is not as useful as having a character whom can impair (Or outright kill) enemies to prevent them from dealing damage in the first place.

There's nothing wrong with your noted party and Druid is a very capable support class. It's just something to keep in mind about utilizing the Druid. Focus less on the healing, and more on the spells that can harm enemies while having Healing Word in your pocket for touching up allies health.

Valid party composition.
The way the game is designed you don't really need a healer. There are too many healing potions you can drink (and throw!) about - and which you can move between characters during combat.
I do feel uncomfortable without someone with Healing Word around, though

This game is all about (a) being the first to act and (b) kill as fast as possible and (c) crowd control.

Sure, healing exists. But its rather weak and expensive.

Healing Word is useful to bring somebody back up who was just downed. I.e. reduced to 0 HP without being already dead.

Which, naturally, can be achieved by throwing a potion. But, as noted, Healing Word is a BONUS Action.
BTW - a Thief with access to Healing Word can cast it TWICE a turn
