I just entered Act 2. As soon as I click on the first enemy I encounter, the game crashes to desktop. My specs are ok. I am playing with the latest patch (1.45). This problem is preventing me from progressing any further in the game. Please help. Thanks

Do you have the latest video drivers?

You need some patience, it's a forum, it takes some time before people read your post <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Have you tried going in a different direction? Someone else had a problem killing a particular monster involved in a cut scene, but killing things in a different order avoided it.

I have gone in different directions, but as soon as I click on any enemy I crash. Also, when I try to save I crash (only upon entering Act 2). My specs are fine - I run very intensive games with no problem. I have done all the things I have seen posted and nothing has worked. The read only is not checked. When I emptied the dynamics folder my saves turned into temporary files. Upgrading drivers was useless. Etc, etc. I was a big fan of Divine Divinity, but I am very disappointed in BD. Too buggy.

Emptying the dynamic folders should not have done anything to the save folders. A .tmp extension on the saved game folders would point to a problem during the save process.

i was having similar problems. while searching the msg boards for help, i came across several threads saying that some items (such as battlefield keys) are removed from your inventory when you move between acts.

so i loaded up a saved game and checked my inventory before leaving act 1 AND upon entering act 2. sure enough, my bf keys and some other items were removed. the funny thing i noticed this time was that my bow had become unequipped between acts. after equipping my bow, i successfully attacked a mob without any crashes.

tbh, i'm not quite sure of the exact cause of the crash. it probably was a combination of many factors including weapon type/monster type/friend or foe (the first monster you see doesn't actually attack you...it only becomes hostile(thus crashing) when you attack it).

anyways, i'm off to act 2...hope this helps others with similar problem.

I have the feeling that the most likely cause of the crash was because your bow became unequiped (dont know why that happened though), If some of your files show that you are equiped with a bow, but some shows that you are not equiped with it anymore, it will cause some "confusion" in the game, where lets say your damage is still set to have the bow equiped, but (for argument sake) the degrading of the bow, now cant happen anymore, because that points to a file that says you dont have a bow anymore. This will then more than likely kick you out of the game due to the general error it just caused, by calling a variant (the degrading of the bow) that doesnt exist anymore.

Your existence alone, is excuse enough for the creation of the entire universe… Il you my darling Jeanne-Dré 
