Hi all,

You’ll soon notice that the long awaited patch for Divine Divinity is finally being put online. As the many delays illustrate, it’s been hell to get this patch to you and it would certainly have taken much longer if it wouldn’t have been for help of Achim_S, Barnabus, Hellfighter, Kiya, Nemisis Dragon,Raze and Sir Toejam, all members on our forum. They’ve done an excellent job in beta-testing the patch and giving us feedback. Special credits also go to Lynn and Fredric who worked very long hours in putting this patch together. It's no secret that we've had a lot of problems in creating the patch and if it wouldn't have been for the people I just mentioned, I don't know how we would've done it.

Now that the patch is out of the door and I can show my face again, I can perhaps also drop the following piece of info: We’ve been flirting with the announcement of our next title for a couple of months now and we’re finally approaching the stage where we can go public with it. As usual I can’t give you an exact date except that the official announcement will be prior to E3 (which starts May 14th). And what I can also tell you is that nobody is going to mess with the name - Expect more on R…R….R soon <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

There always one person with technical problems - this time it's me!!!

Haven't played DD in months, then I heard about the patch release (v1.33), downloaded the English Patch (live in the UK!!), and patched.

Bleurrghhh - the game used to load with the v1.32 version, but now it keeps prompting me to insert my 'Game' CD. Prior to the patch the game loaded, but now after the the patch I get this problem.

I've tried uninstalling the game, reinstalling, and patching afresh - no joy <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

PC Spec is :
OS : Windows XP SP1 (All latest updates downloaded)
Direct X : version 9
CPU : Intel Pentium 4 1.8 (not overclocked)
Memory : 512MB RDRAM (400)
Video : Creative 3D Blaster 4 TI4600 (latest Creative drivers v41.80)
Motherboard : ASUS P4TE motherboard
CD-ROM drive : Ricoh CD-R/RW MP7120A (setup up as F: drive, as I have 3 Hard drives in the PC)
Installation Hard Drive : 80GB Maxtor 6L080J4 (33GB free space!)

A little bit overkill on the stats, but best you know too much than not enough <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I want to get back into the game as I never completed it. I got stuck short of a key to open something, and this p***ed me off! Looking down the fix list I think this is fixed, so I'd love to start the game again....

Sounds like maybe the copy protection got updated, causing a conflict with your drive. Do you have a different optical drive you can try? Maybe contact CDV, or wait and see if Lynn (or another Larian) has any advice.
(CDV changed their site around, the link may work now - it worked for me once, but now crashes WebWasher if it is running, or shows up as a blank page if it is not)

Yeah, it does sound like a protection lockout issue, but it is the first time this has happened to me <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" /> It's a fairly old-ish CD-ROM drive, so I'm surprised it's not included.

Unfortunately, I don't have a different CD-Rom drive to run from, but maybe it's a queue for me to buy one. I was kinda hoping to hold out for a new DVD R/RW with all the bells and whistles (don't wanna get shafted with a DVD betamax format!).

I am running off the original UK CD's (not no lame haxor ripped version), so that shouldn't be a problem....

It looks like a friendly board, and one that Larian ACTUALLY read, so I'll wait for a response on here, but will email if I don't get any joy.

Now I have the patch I can't start the game either. I could with hotfix 2. I have a new Toshiba laptop with a Teac dvd drive. I plugged my external Liteon burner in and same problem. On my pentium 4 with a Pioneer dvd drive it starts fine but is still buggy running a Radeon 9700 pro. Any suggestions ?

My game starts up fine, but I have had 1 CTD and 2 system hangs in the last 2 hours (sob). Never had that happen before patching (although I have updated drivers since last running the pre-patch version). Am now using all the latest drivers for my hardware (Asus A7v266E, AMD XP2000+, SB Audigy Platinum, Radeon 8500, 1 GB Ram, XP Pro SP1, DX9.0a). I noticed I had cd burning software on (alcohol 120%) which creates a vitual cd drive.This gave me 2 cd drives sharing the same device. I uninstalled it and now I dont get the "cant't locate cd" error. The game now loads.
I never had this problem with the previous patch. So if you have any emulating software installed it might pay to try this.

It could be that there's indeed a problem with the copy protection.
I will discuss this problem here internally and hopefully I can get back to you asap with a solution.

It'd be great if you could work out my loading problem, or put together some workaround for it.

I had a lot of fun playing DD (enjoyed it more than Diablo 2 - more RPGish!!) - any plans for a sequel or add-on game??

Sorry but I'm a bit confused with the version numbers.

I downloaded the 1.34 patch but my US (English) program states version 1.0034

I didn't see any readme.txt file for this latest patch so I couldn't tell for sure if the patch updated correctly.

Since the wizard didn't prompt me for any path info, I assumed it searched my hard drive for the correct directory that my copy of Divine resided in.

1.34 and 1.0034a are the same. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> If the Version is displayed when you started the Game, the patch will installed correctly. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I installed the Patch in Win XP and now the game crashes after loading half-way.
Works fine if I remove it, but game still randomly crashes.

what patch are you all talking here? is there another patch after 1.34?

no, 1.34 is the latest.

that also happens to me... i've downloaded v1.34 and in the middle of the game sometimes it crashes....help? or is it another bug? is there a new patch?

Did the same to me jeromskie...constantly so I finally went and got the nocd patch from [no such links are allowed in this forum...] ....cruddy solution but better than crashing all the time....back up your original exe...when you assemble the council of seven...it plays a cut scene that needs access to the cd so you will have to be prepared to run the original exe to get past that point. I entertained the thought that maybe after...all would be well with the original exe but no...it still crashed so it was back on with the nocd exe <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I hope someone can help me. I have downloaded DivPatch_English.exe 10628KB, the first time I installed it a blue message came up on the screen and I had to reboot the comp. I have now removed DD and installed it again but I am worried if I install the patch again it will stop me from loading the game, I am running the game on XP and have not patched it before, what am I doing wrong please help asap as I really want to get into the gmae tonight!!
