Using my computer (I use three other older computers) with the latest and best version of Microsoft Explorer, I am at last able to post. Older versions of Netscape Navigator and Explorer left me unable to post.

What I got when I hit post or reply was a screen in which there was no place to post text.

Now I honestly think it is a disastrous mistake to set up a board in which posting and replying is impossible with anything less than the latest most up to date version of one's net browser.

You are going to lose an awful lot of people who want advice but have less than the latest software.

Further, you could at least state that one needs to download a more recent version of one's browser to get on to this board, and provide an address.

Alternatively, if there is a way to post with older browsers, please explain it in the FAQ!

Hi Tiffin!

~Older versions of Netscape Navigator and Explorer left me unable to post.~
What do you mean with "older versions"? If you talk about something like IE < 5.0 or Netscape < 6.0, then I must say that those are not old, but ancient. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> And the amount of users who use such old browers are marginally small.
Everything with a version number equal or above the aforementioned numbers should be sufficient.

Nothing against your suggestions of course. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Glad you like the suggestions!

Still I think you grossly underestimate, like many into computers, the number of persons with older browsers. Shocking as it may seem to the computer up-to-date, most of us never to bother to update our browser past what we are given when out computer is new. Even when we do, frequently something goes wrong so the updated browser really doesn't work right.

I would hate to tell you how many people I have questioned are currnetly using a browser older than the versions you mention, in spite of your view that this is a tiny marignal group.

Start a Poll asking "Did you have to update browser to use this forum?" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> btw XP comes with 6.0 so numbers of ancient versions are dwindling. what does ME come with? I hate netscapes inability to handle javascript myself even the newest version can't get onto the sight I created and I'm just using the simpliest/most common code. errr stupid netscape.

And if you use a Netscape 4.7xxx, then you should really throw that thing away. It has so many errors concerning Java, JavaScript, Cookies, and so on, that a web developer has either make sure that he uses no interactive content (really hard to do with a forum) or write a second, Netscape compatible version and make browser checks all the time to fork to the right page. And that really sucks, too.
