What are you having problems with, exactly? When you save the game under a new name, the inventory files in that folder are the exact same files you want in the fixed save, you only want to use my inventory files long enough to drop the item you need on the ground, then delete and replace them with your backup.
Stupid analogy, but think of it like trying to pick up a ball that landed in the middle of a large mud puddle, without getting your brand new sneakers dirty.
1) Download the zip file for the item you require, and unzip it to a temporary folder.
- Borrow a pair of boots.
2) Save your game under a new name, lets say 'inventory1', for the sake of reference.
3) Create a subfolder in this saved game folder, and move all 6 inv.* files into it. [color:"yellow"]Important[/color]: You must restore these files at the end of the procedure; failure to do so will probably result in missing quest items (and will cause other items to disappear), since your game and mine were very likely not done in the exact same order.
- Take off your sneakers, and put them in a very safe place. If you don't get them back after picking up the ball, it will be a difficult walk home. Also, your parents/spouse just paid big bucks for these sneakers so you could have the latest fad, and if you show up home without them, they will kill you. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
4) Move the new inventory files from the temporary folder into the 'inventory1' game folder.
5) Re-load the 'inventory1' game, so that the inventory will be updated.
- put on the borrowed boots
6) Drop the item you require on the ground.
7) Save the game under a new name, such as 'inventory2'.
- walk out to the ball, pick it up, and throw it back to where you were standing, then return to where you were.
8) Copy the original inv.* files from the subfolder in the 'inventory1' saved game, to the 'inventory2' saved game, overwriting the files there.
- remove the borrowed boots, and put your sneakers back on
9) Re-load the 'inventory2' game.
- pick up the ball, and continue playing.
Does that help?
