Just submitted a bug report to Larian, but was wondering if anyone else is having the same issue.

Ever since hot fix #27 and #28, the game quits back to desktop when you attempt to run it.
This happens with either the GOG Galaxy Launcher, or the App itself from the BG3 folder in Finder.

Running an M1 iMac with 16GB ram, on Ventura 13.7

It was running fine before Patch 7

Thanks in advance

Have you filed a bug/issue for this? You are definitely not the only one seeing crashes with macOS 13. I saw other posts as well.

Thanks for the reply.

I have filed a bug/issue report directly with Larian and have submitted requested logs/files as requested. Just a matter of waiting for a reply.

What Mac are you running? Intel, Apple Silicon?
What version of MacOS? Ventura? Sonoma? Sequoia?

BG3 was running fine previously to Patch 7 and its subsequent Hotfixes (27 & 28) and I have not changed anything on my system in the meantime. If I don't get a reply/solution in a week or two, I might do a fresh install of Ventura, and if that doesn't work, upgrade to Sonoma, and failing that, Sequoia.

I'm running BG3 on my Mac through Steam and haven't been able to play for months. First, it was the update that excluded Mac users so I wasn't able to play with my party. Then I tried again a few days ago after a couple of updates happened, and now it won't launch, just like you describe. About to give up on this game. I have a 2017 intel iMac running Ventura. Not running any mods, tried a new install and all of the suggestions from the Larian site.

I got a message back from Larian stating that they no longer support intel Macs. They sent me a new list of minimum requirements:

MINIMUM:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: macOS 12 or newer
Processor: Apple M1
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Apple M1
Storage: 150 GB available space
Additional Notes: Min specs can run the game on low to medium settings. Splitscreen will not run at an acceptable level of performance. SSD required.

I feel pretty bummed that they just pulled the plug on intel Mac users like that. I was having a lot of fun with my group.

That sucks. Do you get a refund since you can't play anymore? or at the very least give you the option to download the last working version of the game for your Mac?

Thanks, yeah it does suck! I haven't asked for a refund, although I considered it and feel it would be fair. They offered 2 solutions: roll back to the previous working version (which works, but now my version is different from my party, so we can't play together unless they also roll back), or use Nvidia Geforce Now. I used that and it works fine, but it sucks because I can only play 1 hour at a time and have to sit in a queue and watch ads before I can play. Unless, of course, I pay for a subscription, which is something I won't do just to play BG3.

Do you think Larian would give me a previous version of BG3 (GOG Mac version prior to Patch 7, as this was the last version that worked for me) ?
I've received no response from GOG support (waiting for over 3 weeks now) or Larian (1 week now).

Doesn't gog galaxy allow you to install older versions of a game? I think there used to be a feature like that, I haven't used galaxy in long time though.

Not for the Mac or Windows versions on GOG, maybe Steam does?

To be clear, I did not mean the gog versions of games that you can download, but their gog galaxy client:
https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/ar...previous-version-of-the-game?product=gog

I now play on GFN, so I don't know if this still works.

OMG Thank you for this!! I wish I had this like 3 weeks ago!! hahaha. But GOG support never got back to me and I couldn't find any other way of rolling back via google searches.

It lets me roll back to version 4.1.1.4953010 (7 months ago) and a couple of versions above that. So I will definitely install that and back it up.

On another note:
Yesterday, I received an email reply from Larian, saying I have to wait for the dev team to look at it and they prop won't get back to me directly and couldn't not give an ETA. Just watch for new hot fixes and see if that fixes it. (they didn't know about the GOG roll back otherwise they would have mentioned it).

So I bit the bullet and updated to Sonoma 14.7 (as I have the full install handy) and surprisingly, BG3 worked! then updated to Sonoma 14.7.1 and yup, still worked! So looks like Larian have unofficially dropped support for Ventura or introduced a bug causing it to not run.

Anyways had to spend money and update some of my older software to support Sonoma (a pain as I wanted to get at least another year out of using Ventura).

But at least it is running now, but I've seen some reports of Mac users having issues with the newer version slowing down in some areas of the game. If that happens I will run the older version.
