Hi all,
I have BG3 on my PC, where it runs just fine. On my XBox, however, the game crashed multiple times during the character creator, which is surprising for a game a year out of launch. The internets said that there is some sort of problem with Microsoft accounts and BG3, so I should log in to a Larian account, which I did (I did not turn on cross-platform saves) and could then complete creating a custom character. It crashed a couple of times during the fight on the mind flayer ship, and I finally gave up when the game crashed after the ship went down. Reading around, it looks like BG3 has severe stability problems on the XBox, with sad gamers resorting to superstitious guessing about how to make the game playable for more than an hour.
FWIW, this is an XBox series X with about 500 GiB of free space on the external storage. I have a strong internet connection (a laptop in the same room gets 400 Mbps) and console and games auto-update. I'm not playing co-op. No other games exhibit crash-prone behavior like this.
I have a couple of questions:
1. Are there work-arounds that make this unplayable mess functional on the XBox?
2. Does the company have plans to make this game stable without resorting to weird hacks and work-arounds any time in the near future?
3. Does Larian offer refunds for people on the XBox who basically can't play the game for more than 5-10 minutes?
I'm not super hopeful, given that we're a year out and the game doesn't seem to be functional at this point (glad I missed the "Oops, we accidentally deleted your save!" bug from last winter), but I thought I'd ask here before writing this purchase off. Sucks that I basically threw $70 in the toilet on this garbage. And Larian, if you read your forum, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Selling fundamentally broken software should be illegal.
Thanks
