I registered specifically to make this request. I literally stopped my second playthrough because I was waiting for a patch that let me not just stand and watch as Nere makes a workplace incident. I will happily burn a counterspell if required, but I cannot condone such health and safety violations in the workplace.

There are worse things in the game than a Drow being a Drow. Like we can't punish the Tiefling criminal for stealing the heirloom of an adventurer.

Can't say I particularly care about saving her, but I do agree it should at least be an option. Maybe even an impractical and demanding one, where the conditions to intervene at the right moment are particularly hard to fulfill (i.e. extremely hard skill check, difficult roll, etc), but still, something that should at least be possible.
Realistically speaking I think the time for adding and modifying significant story content in this game is gone, but it's at least worth pointing it out for the sake of future productions.

I think, you could make it similar to the guy in the goblin camp, that gets pushed into the spider pit. You have to time it right and stop the goblins from doing anything, attacking them doesn't save him. So casting Hold Person on Nere right after the explosion and before he gets his cutscene for example . I'm sad for Meerna tbh, but I think that scene just drives home that the Underdark is a cold and unforgiving place.

I dont think this is a significant thing, just a nice, little one, if you a realy good guy type of a charater. Also a Durge could kill, everyone in this scenario if you want an evil walktrough. Everyone pleased. They managed it to give Minthara a chance if you are a godd guy soooo....

But he doesn't even appear if you save Sazza and escort her to Minthara. Just give us an option to save Meerna

For me, its more the fact that my character is there, could intervene, but doesn't. which feels weird. It makes sense to not intervene when you first enter the moon-rise tower, because that's too much of a fight, but not stopping Nere seems negligent.

Does skipping the cut scene not save her? I tried to do that, but wasn't sure if she was still around after.

But I admit her death annoys me. Probably because I want to be able to kill Nere before he has a chance to open his fat mouth, but if it saves Meerna in the process, bonus.

Yes, there is a method. But after that no new dialogue, and her brother react the same as normal when is she died. There was at least one thread in the past where this was already discussed. So just a reminder: There are many NPCs whose sole function is to die for the sake of dramaturgy. That's why there are no follow-up dialogues with these NPCs if you should somehow manage to save them, as they were never originally intended to live on.
