man, i'm having a heck of a time getting past the damn shaman. i'm hitting him with hammer (l3) and an earth fire combo plus my dk hammering him with the fire sword (and my worthless skelly firing poison arrows and hitting about once every 30 shots). i'm getting my butt handed to me.

i'm toying with the idea of selling off some of my skills for my mage and pumping up some other spell just to get past him. i can't take any higher hammer spell, although it doesn't seem to be hurting him that much, just stunning him.

any hints or tips? thanks in advance.

also, did larian take a dirty trick from black isle and give this [nocando] unlimited magic? cause i just went at him toe to toe with only melee weapons and went through about 30 healing potions and he ain't showing any sign of letting up on the spells?

Heya Chud, having probs with shaman, are we? He's not that tough; I dispatched him so fast and easy, that I was disappointed with how weak he was. Of course, since I was clearing out the bf dungeons, I was level 21 at the time. Poor shaman didn't stand a chance.

My warrior simply used a 1h sword and a shield, and I kept my DK archer in sneak mode just out of shaman's area spell effects, so he could shoot arrow after arrow without his attacks getting interrupted. I think that I had the DK using either power or spiritual arrows(or were they ethereal arrows?), but then again my memory's not what it used to be.

Anyway, try positioning your skelly archer and your wizard in sneak mode away from the shaman and his spell attacks, so that they can shoot arrows and spells at him without being interrupted. Have your DK melee with the shaman. Is your DK having a problem hitting shaman? If he is, you will need to increase his agility and or proficiency with his weapon.

If you need further help, let us know.

Good luck!

1. I used sneak with my archer and targeted him as soon as I saw the red cross.
2. As he heals himself, I stunned him with hammer (my lvl was lower than 3)
3. The DK can aid with his 2-hand Death Claw sword.

Important was this => try to lure him away from the water demon. Did this by attacking him and then running back in single mode, where the DK was. As DK was in aggressive mode, he attacked. Took care to heal DK.

Stunning is good, because the Shaman can't heal himself anymore then.

thanks, i'll try some of those.

tc,
funny how different games play out. i've fought this battle at least 15 times so far without success.

i did manage to independently dispatch the water demons around the area so now it's just me vs. the shaman, but i'm still not having any luck. maybe i'll go grab a level or two in the bfs and see if that helps...

Beware of the Shaman's resistances:
highly immune (78 at hardcore) to fire, air, water, earth; and completely resistant (100 at hardcore) to poison, shadow and bone. So do not use weapons that do this kind of damage, because their effect will be slim to none. What is he vulnerable to? ethereal (-20 at hardcore); slashing, piercing and crushing (3 at hardcore) spiritual (10 at hardcore)

So instead of using the fire sword, use a normal sword with slashing damage and have your skellie fire ethereal arrows if available
