Larian Studios Forums Beyond Divinity (English) General Act1 talking skull offers nothing?

I killed FERGUS first, then talked with the talking skull, but can not get the quest and the item...........why?

well, you already killed him didn't you?
Why would the skull give you his precious items to do something you already did, without having been promised a reward?

Obviously the skull didn't dislike Fergus as much as he claimed (in the dialog before Fergus is killed, that you missed), or he would have been grateful you killed him regardless of being asked to or not.
On the other hand, perhaps he doesn't feel at peace enough to leave the mortal realm unless he is able to play some small part in Fergus' downfall.

I meant you missed the dialog by not talking to the skull first. If Fergus was alive, after the skull's initial question, he would have made a comment that lead to a short conversation about Fergus and the quest to kill him.

Do you have a recent save before killing Fergus? I don't know if the Luck bonus (+12 IIRC) on the cap for the quest reward would be worth doing too much over for, though.
