Will we be graced with a Christmas miracle of a Race mod fix for consoles?

This block has many of us just sitting here not playing when we could be starting new playthroughs over the holidays and keeping your game more relevant.

I know Aasimar and Kobold are widely requested, and I've personally been waiting on Shadar-Kai.

Hello!

The team continues to look into this issue, and at the moment the approval of race mods for console is paused.

So seemingly no progress, got it. Really wish this issue had been prioritized over people with more than 100 active mods. Disappointing.

Hey, I'm not trying to sound like a piece of whatever. But if you think it's so easy, apply for a job at Larian and fix it.

Or complain to Microsoft and Sony that Larian has to be so extensive with console mods.

What's the issue, exactly? I don't mean to be pushy or demanding, I just want to understand.

Apparently Race mods were causing crashes, so they’ve been put on hold for approval until that gets solved. The only one that squeezed through before the hold was the Kuo-Toa mod, and I’m honestly not sure why only that one has. Kuo-Toa aren’t exactly cool or sought after, they’re, at best, memeable creepy fish people.

And every update and mod drop that passes makes it seems like a fix (which would allow mods that offer virtually infinite replayability by expanding starting character build options) isn’t really being prioritized.

I'm sure there's a sensible reason for how it's being handled, even if we may not agree with it. I think it's a non-actionable thing for us as the consumers. Mods are primarily for customers that have already paid, very few sales are made because of them, and it costs to have employees do this mod approval process so at the absolute very best they're breaking even with mods. Capitalism sucks, but as long as we're stuck with it companies need to make profit to avoid being gobbled up or run out of business by their competirors.

I certainly wouldn't want Larian to go down the Bethesda route and turn mods into microtransactions made with outsourced labor. I'll take the waiting and unpredictable releases over that garbage fire.

Larian should at least be so honest to respond to modders' inquires for a status. I personally don't care for consoles as I play on windows. But I support a popular modder on Patreon, who released a mod.io mod in september last year I think. It is Nr. 34 in the "Higest rated" ranking on mod.io at this moment. All the mods in front of it (execpt Faces of Faerun that adds shaders) and more than 200 lesser ranked and / or more recent mods have been approved. But the modder is completely left in the dark whether the mod will ever be tested, or why it is skipped over for so long. It's quite discouraging for both modder and supporters.

Right? Half of the content creators I know keep the race mod hope in almost every video they release on YouTube, and the Aasimar, Shadar Kai and I believe there were a few others the main one I follow released as a Wish List, and I know that some of the modders that have race mods have had some of their other mods released. If we could get the same prioritization that people with over 100 mods got, that would be excellent, but it feels like the entire issue is just being put on a backburner and being met with non-answers and silence from Larian themselves at this point. No progress, no anticipated date of fix, just crickets.

And it has to be upsetting for the modders who spend loads of time and energy perfecting these things, and then just get told "well, because we can't fix our own issue, it's on pause for now..." and just be left in limbo with no resolution for their own mods.

To repeat myself again:The way they treat mods is incredibly depressing and almost dismissive despite now being a standard part of the game.

The race mod is probably the most glaring issue as it's been on hold for months now with zero indication on a fix ever coming.

They’re dropping mods left and right, what’s depressing is the way they’re treating this fix.

Salo, can we get update or a time frame when the team expects to have it fixed by?

This lack of update or time frame other than “the team is still looking at it” gets more disheartening as weeks turn into months.

Well at least you got a response : "The team is looking at it".
No feedback at all for the "Big Busty Body" mod.

(6 monhts out, nr. 36 in the "highest ranking" mods from mod.io, 220+K downloads., 552 downloads only today. just a cosmetic mod adding camp clothes to the Tutorial Chest. Testing would take a couple of hours max.)

And I'm afraid that it will take much longer. I suspect that Patch 8 will probably not drop until Easter or later. Then the bugtracker will overflow with both new and old recurring bugs which must be fixed and all this with a reduced team. Moreover all the other broken mods (ImpUI sends its regards) will first have to be updated and will increase the internal testing queue. The additional delay for Mac and consoles is not really taken into account here...

If it's any consolation, there are mods that have been waiting since day one that haven't been picked too.

Hell dragon tamer and Reaper have been denied, with now zero estimation on when Larian will look at them again. This entire process is a shit show.
