A year ago, we successfully played Baldur's Gate 3 in split-screen co-op on Xbox X using two controllers. However, now the game does not respond to the second controller.
Current Setup and Issue:
The first controller is logged into the main account (owner of the console and the game). It launches the game and loads the save file that was previously played in co-op.
The second controller logs into a guest account when activated. However, the game does not respond to inputs from the second controller.
Multiplayer settings do not offer the option to assign characters to the second player, and starting a new game does not allow the creation of a second character.
Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
Controller Profiles: Each controller is assigned to a separate profile in the Xbox settings.
Game Updates: Baldur's Gate 3, the Xbox operating system, and controller firmware are all updated to the latest versions.
Restarts: The console, controllers, and router have been restarted multiple times.
Other Games: Both controllers work correctly in other games, allowing for co-op play.
Additional Details:
Xbox Game Pass: Not in use. Local split-screen play on a single console with two controllers is required.
Potential Cause: Online reports suggest the game might treat both controllers as one, but solutions are only available for PC, not Xbox.
How can I set up split-screen co-op in Baldur's Gate 3 on Xbox X if standard instructions do not resolve the issue? Has anyone encountered and solved a similar problem?
