What are quests, you really look forward to? Or areas?

I love the whole Shadowcursed Lands scenario, it is very lovecraftian and I'm a huge horror fan.

I also really like - and I know that is an unpoluar opinion - the Iron Throne. I really like coming up with new ways, to get everyone out in time and so far, I always managed it somehow, despite some pretty stupid things I did.

In act 1 I love the swamp area and Auntie Ethels place - very creepy and I love Auntie, she is such a fun villain.

In act 3 I actually like the murder chase, starting with the Ilmater temple. And Wyrms way. Ansurs story is pretty sad.

I like all of Ethel's class and deity-specific lines, so it's often a highlight.

I also like Minthara's romance prelude tadpole scene, because it's one of the rare times you get to give your character some characterization by saying rather than doing. I don't enjoy that kind of writing normally, but how completely unsubtle it is feels to me like a good contrast with the rest of the game

Dealing with Z'rell is fun, too. Learning about her many husbands and stringing her along as an evil avatar have been delightful.

I'm curious now if there's much special dialogue options in act 2 for shadow magic sorcerers, and I look forward to quests in the shadow curse that can give Nimbus a chance to shine. I haven't been pkaying much shadow sorcerer, though.

"Find the Missing Letters" is a delightful quest. Larian did a great job writing interesting animals. I also really like Astarion's quest/dungeon, the Crèche, the arcane tower in the Underdark, and Jaheira's house.

Steel: oh yes about the animals. I want to adopt them all. And Commander Lightfeathers is so much fun.

NGL Cazadors castle was a bit of a bummer and is my least liked companion quest. I just watched the new Nosferatu movie and thought 'Now this is a propper creepy vampire castle'.
But I forgot the House of Hope, a nice unsettling dungeon with lots of lore dump and Hope is such a delight. I happily kill her tormentor for her.

Oh, this is a hard one because there are quite a few of those. The short answer is: "I really like this game!" The long answer is below the cut as not to accidentally spoiler anyone.

My favourite part of the game is act two. I love both the Shadowcursed Land for its moody macabre atmosphere and the Mountain Pass for its glorious golden rays of morning light. But on a less aesthetic level, I like how both regions serve as a thematic backdrop for all the characters to deal with their mortality and for most of them, to deal with their relationship to faith and the gods as well. It’s also the only part of the game during which I like Halsin because it offers some depth and explanation to what nature means for him, instead of the endless row of catchphrases he usually has to offer on the topic. I also enjoy the encounters in this area and that you can talk most of your opponents to death. XD Especially with Avatar-Gale this feels very appropriate.

Two highlights of the chapter would be: Playing hide and seek with Oliver which is just a fun little stealth quest which I really enjoy, light hearted in nature but twisted by the curse all the same.
At Creche, being granted the permission to take care of the Gith egg is such a special moment too. I like that keeping the egg is now a possible resolution to the quest, and how our camp can be a refuge for those in need as long as they need it, be it the cub, Arabella or the egg. Which makes “camp” a favourite area of mine too.

In act 1, I love the Blighted Village. Ha, I just love snooping through everyone’s cellars, finding out what happened and getting myself a fancy sword, a creepy book and a new Shovel. I have a soft spot for the mirror down there too. The Arcane Tower is another tragic place I love to explore.

Double crossing Minthara and defending the Grove is a favourite encounter, one of the few moments when prepping a space with copious amounts of explosives doesn’t feel exploitative. And as an unpopular opinion: I like the Gnolls. They are a tough fight at low level and I like dealing with the Zhentarim and their box situation too.

In act 3, I just like breaking into places. (I am so sorry about your knees and back, Gale.) Sorcerous Sundries, the Baldur’s Mouth, the Counting House, also the Iron Throne and the Steel Watch Foundry. Yes, yes, the Gondians are suicidal but overall, I do enjoy both as locations and as encounters - the brain room in the foundry is such a haunting experience. Also, did you know you could break into the Foundry via the roof? Speaking of which: I am looking forward to hopping over roofs in Rivington and the Lower City, just because I can! (And to say hello to a certain someone.) Adding an unpopular opinion: Lady Jannath’s house, haunted or not.

Among the smaller encounters, saving Naosie and experiencing a moment of bliss is an encounter I am looking forward to. Does this count as a quest?

As for the companions: I am looking forward to basically every conversation with Gale but since we are talking quests here: In case of Death holds a very special place in my heart and I always get it in the most ridiculous situations. When playing as Avatar-Gale the audience with Mystra is a moment I am always looking forward to.

Jaheira and Minsc’s personal quests. They are just fun and well implemented. I am also looking forward to meeting Jaheira’s family and snooping through her home.

As for the vampire: I enjoy the act 3 build up in Astarion’s quest, just the final confrontation and resolution of it fall a little flat for me. Otoh, as Avatar-Astarion, I am looking forward to confronting Cazador the whole game (very fitting, no?) as well as to the nightmare of bite-night in act 1. But I have already gushed about this in the other thread, so I’ll keep my trap shut here.

And last but not least - and to nobody’s surprise - I am looking forward to getting arrested and breaking out of prison. XD

I forgot House of Hope too! Very cool atmosphere, great loot, and a satisfying fight. I also like everyone's comments on the portal room.

Like Anska, "I really like this game!" and I keep remembering more places I like.

How do you like the alternative to dealing with Oskar in act 3, fylimar? The art exhibition, I mean.

I haven't tried that one. I mostly just leave him with the Zhents. WHat happens there and how does one get that one? I'm curious.

If you just leave Oskar behind or never even find the hideout, Lady Jannath hosts an art exhibition in her manor. You have to do nothing, just show up and chat with the other guests and staff. It has some fun little moments and a hint that her taste in art might have changed in Oskar's absence, which I thought was funny. It's also a cute opportunity if you just want to roleplay some sort of social moment with your pixel-pals, although they are not super reactive to it. (It's the most missed opportunity for people to recognise Wyll in my opinion.)

There's a couple of guys that start yelling at each other and one tells the other to go outside to fight it out and if you follow them outside they do start fighting and one kills the other. That felt like a special little moment.

That sounds interesting and yeah, it's sad that Wyll isn't more recognised. But I will do that next time for sure. Lady Jannath is so much better off on her own.

Another small one: Getting my gruel from Okta - and Gale and Wyll being the only ones who can't play the pity card for a second bowl. ^^

You are talking from the companions perspective? What is the reason, she gives Shadowheart, Lae'zel or Astarion a second bowl? Astarion should have the high elf tag and they don't get it, same with Shadowheart for half elves - or have they special dialogues? And Lae'zel the gith tag? My gith Tav asked if it is a delicatessy from Faerun and got one. Normally it's my halflings and gnomes, getting a second portion.

I think it's because both Gale and Wyll come from loving, stable families and so they both don't get the "reminds me of home" option, which makes Okta take pity on you and give you a second bowl. Astarion was starved and only give disgusting food, so I assume that's why he has the option as well as the high elf option, same with Shadowheart. I guess they don't serve the yummiest food to Shar's disciples. I don't quite remember what got me the second bowl for Lae'zel.

Karlach calling Gale "ivory tower" when you chide her for encouraging Mattis to keep on grifting in act 2 as Avatar-Gale, might also be unique to him, but I'll have to check that. It plays into the same idea.

Githyanki have the option to be curious about Faerunian food and get a second bowl that way, so I guess, Lae'zel can use that answer.

In my evil playthrough I'm currently at the start of the Temple of Shar - we've got in, met Balthazar, but not done anything else. I'm looking forward to the fight against Yurgir because I always found it really hard in the last game but a great achievement when I finished it. This time I think I can do some interesting things with Lightning Bolt. I don't know yet what's going to happen in the Shadowfell. Shadowheart doesn't like me much, so she'll probably kill Nightsong. I've wondered if I might side with Balthazar to retrieve her, but my character is looking to Minthara quite a lot so maybe not.

Meanwhile, I've left Balthazar to stew a bit while I go and investigate that weird bubble of light across the water from the mausoleum. I haven't decided yet whether to go in the front, try to sneak in the back (I'm not sure if there's a way round to the rear entrance with the mines), or not go in at all until after the Shadowfell

I'm looking forward to revisiting Waukeen's Rest since I completely blew it in my first playthrough. My guess is that I hadn't yet realised how the passage of time works in BG3, or maybe ventured too close while exploring and started the quest without knowing, or maybe there was a muddle with quicksaves. Anyway, everything inside was crispy when we finally went in.

Yes, I think there's a trigger when you get close enough to start it off. It might be when someone comments that they see/smell burning, but I don't know. The rescue mission is good fun

I might be wrong but as far as I know, venturing on to the Mountain Pass progresses the quest, otherwise you should be fine.
